Early news reports when the incident happened (around 19th Sept) seemed to indicate the tourists were taken from Aswan but in actual fact, the five Germans, five Italians and one Romanian were seized with their Egyptian guides while camping near the Sudanese border by the Gilf al-Kebir.

Quite some distance from the tourist areas of Aswan.....

I thought we saw somewhere yesterday they have now finally been released?
