We've just spent a fab fortnight in Napa and had yet another great holiday. Whilst there we got friendly with a Cypriot girl working in our hotel, she's getting married during second week of Nov and has kindly invited us back to attend........we're going for it and plan to be there for 5 days R&R as an extra treat
Can anyone advise what the format is for a traditional Cypriot wedding, customs, what to expect etc. ? I've Googled it and didn't get much useful info to be honest. Do we take presents or is it the whole money pinning thing ? What to wear, anything not acceptable ?
Any help gratefully received.
The first Church service I went to, there were only two men wearing suits - the groom & me! Many were there in jeans. I think 'smart casual' would be in order.
As for the reception, you'll probably find half the inhabitants of the nearby villages in attendance. They don't pin money on the dresses any more - the bride and groom greet guests at the reception at which time the guests hand over an envelope containing money.
Regards and enjoy the wedding.

Or they might have a huge glass bowl for the guests to drop the envelope in as they enter the reception hall
