I saw some Goan traditional dance at JoeCons. It was quite bizarre, music a cross between Soca and Portuguese with primitive dancing... absolutely nothing like Hindu dancers I have seen. Dances/themes associated with rituals/dances by fishermen. Wasn't that impressed... but interesting none the less. I find real Indian music more absorbing .... Panjim have an Arts centre with top notch artists worth checking out.
thanks Neil. I can't recall any posts about traditional dance so had wondered. We did see some Indian dance when we were on the Golden Triangle tour.
I was enthralled with the enthusiasm and vigour, especially the drum beating. Most top hotels have a folklore evening, but good perfomances are to be found at the Kala Academy in Panjim, or during a local festival.
I did post a few photos in the Panjim album.

It is strange- but then I certainly did not see any advertised when we were there.
