Have just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Icmeler, Turkey but on our arrival there was no transfer waiting for us. We had booked private transfers when we booked the holiday. I had found out that the flight times had been changed from the original ones made at the time of the booking and emailed the travel agent to ask whether we had to contact the transfer people ourselves or whether they would inform them. They sent me an email back to say that they had informed the transfer people themselves.
When we arrived at Bodrum Airport there was no one waiting for us with our name on a card but there were stalls with the various transfer companies set out. We went over to the stand of the transfer company and they had our name on a list of people they were collecting from the Aiport. They made me sign alongside my name and then proceeded to tell us that because the flight times had been changed and we had arrived on 3rd (1am) instead of 2nd that there was no car available. They would not take us to our destination until we paid another £40.00. I did get a receipt for the £40.00 we paid.
Do you think that I should be able to claim back the £40.00 from the travel agent seeing as it was there fault for not informing the transfer company?
Apart from that we have a fantastic holiday and will be returning.
Any advice would be appreciated.
copy of the receipt for the £40 asking for the money back. And keep the receipt for the recorded delivery, if they don't pay up first time add that to the list!
Assuming this is a UK agent then you have a good case, especially as you had their written assurance that everything was sorted. No more emails, your next step is a letter sent recorded delivery with a copy of their email and a
I'd agree it's up to the travel agent to refund the cost. Did the travel agent also book your flights and inform you of the change to flight times?
