The standard rate with an airport taxi to C'd'or is €60 normal hours
€70 out of hours but i am sure fellow members will advise and better this.
but bear in mind that taxis are always at the airport at all times and can generally be relied on.

Sorry but yet another posting on transfers!! Im planning a week in Cala Dor in October for 2 adults and 3 children aged 3,5 and 7, can anyone tell me if we would be all able to get a taxi or would we have to get 2. Ive gone through the various links for transfers but they all seem too pricey costin any thing from £140 to a whopping £300! At that price the transfer is gonna cost more than the holiday. A bit nervous about driving so would ideally like to be taken to the resort but may have to rethink if the transfer is gonna be as expensive. Any advice would be helpful as it would be my 1st time in majorca! :)

On the internet you will find lots of companies offering airport transfers...most are agents who add their marging for arranging transfers..middlemen taking a profit and your money as you have to pay at time of booking.

My advice as a rep working in Palma airport arrivals last year is to find a transfer company with an office in airport arrivals and one who doesn't ask for payment until you arrive.

Lots of times last year I was asked by arriving passengers to help them find a man with their name on a piece of paper who was supposed to be waiting for them. Many times no one was waiting for them and they had pre paid for transfers.

In a quick search on the web I found one transfer company with an office in arrivals offering transfers at 110 euros one way for 5 passengers to Cala d'Or and pay on arrival. Taxis at the airport taxi rank can only take 4 passengers.

If price is all you are interested in you might be able to find cheaper but I have seen the vehicles one cheap transfer outfit use, clapped out minibuses and cars I would not put my customers in. Their idea of air conditioning is to have the windows open.

You get what you pay for these days.

Hi there Supersox, in all honesty I would advise you bite the bullet and go for car hire. Driving around Mallorca is a pretty unscary experience, roads are quite good (well sign posted etc). Their road system is not to differnet to our own, a few differences such as sometimes to turn left at a t junction you have to go straight across into a sort of slip road before coming back onto the road, but this is all sign posted and easy to follow.
Possibly the biggest concern you would have is the resort of cala dor has several one way streets, a couple of days of driving in and out and you soon find your way around.
We always use Carjet.Com only becuase we have had good service in the past and their prices are very reasonable. A rough guide for a for focus with A/C for october is approx £100 plus fuel (pay for car & fuel on arrival, none of this pay in advance lark).
Cala Dor itself has 7 different beaches and plenty of shops/bars etc, but if you hire a car there are lots of great places both north and south within easy driving distance to visit if you do get fed up with cala dor.
If you go to multimap.co.uk and click on europe/mallorca etc, you can zoom in quite easily and print routes before hand (right down to the individual one way streets of cala dor).
We are going out ourselves in May (calas de mallorca) and again in october (not decided where yet though), what dates will you be out there? I think our october dates are 23rd to the 30th.

Hi
Thanx for the ideas! I think we will be hiring a car it seems the sensible option. Bit nervous about getting about but hubby will be the driver, i'm just a terrible back seat driver!! Ive just got a quote for Carjet and they seem pretty resonable far cheaper than taxis or private transfers!! We are looking at going 17 oct to the 24th, will there still be much open? :pele

most places will still be open in Cala D'or and Cala Egos, last year the weather was fantastic for this week. The roads are quiet so driving should be easy apart from Palma town which is always a madhouse on the roads.
Where are you staying? We have only heard good reports from carjet from our friends. 28SAC.

Just booked the Ariel Apartments for a grand total of £63!! There seems to be mixed views on the apartments but we only ever use the accommodation as a base and tend to be out most of the time. Think im gona fly with Jet2 they seem to be the cheapest, and they cant be any worse than Ryanair who we went with to Spain last year. Just going to count the weeks now!!!! YIPEE!!

We had mega problems a couple of years ago with a transfer company based at palma. Resort Hoppa thier service was to say the least shoddy and to this day i have not recieved an apology despite several letters and e mails. This year i have paid a bit extra just to make sure we get a proper coach. There is nothing worse than wondering if your taxi or mini bus is going to show up.

Hi again supersox, when you mentioned the ariel appartmets I had to take a look. When you say a total of £63 if this for a week? and if so can you let me know who you booked it through as you may have just made our minds up where to stay on our october hols.

Hi
Yes I know £63 is cheap!! We went to Salou last October for the same price to a 4 star apartment it was fantastic!! The web site is somewheretostay.co.uk. They are Cosmos so it all ok and safe. I think they seem to pick out 1 or 2 resorts a year and discount them cos we tried to rebook the same as last year and the price has shot up!

Thanks for that Supersox, have added it to the favs list.
just our luck though........our flights are monday to monday, so the cheapest accommodation is about £120.........had the flights have been Sat to Sat would have been £63.........

Hi
I found that too. You can get the apatments cheap enuf but its got to tie in with the flights! £130 stills sound cheap, lets face it you would struggle to get a caravan in this country for that!!!

can anyone tell me the easiest way to go from palma to alcudia for one person a women
Reply
Your subject is "cheapest", your text is easiest ???

Cheapest is get bus from airport to Palma main bus station, then bus to Alcudia. Around 8 or 9 Euros one-way.
Easiest is get a taxi from the airport...but that's also the most expensive at around 60 Euros one-way.
I'm not trying to be smart here, but you're not clear on which option you want.

Hi there
When I went to Magaluf in April in cost me €33 from the airport to my hotel that was at 5.15pm and €29 going back that was travelling 8.15am. Probably cheaper to Palma Nova as it isn't quite so far.
Hope this helps,
regards
Dawnie-Rob
