It usually depends on how many people are dropped off before you but it's always been about 40mins to an 1 hour when we have been.

I gave up the hassle of going via Heraklion years ago. Chania airport is new, small and very efficient. It's also the gateway to the most beautiful and varied part of Crete. Typical transfer times are much less.

But surely only for destinations in western Crete! For anywhere east of Heraklion - like Stalis - the transfers are going to take longer from Chania.
