Not sure if this has been asked before, but can anyone reccomend a company or the best way to pay into your account with out getting ripped off by the english banks.
Any help would be appreciated
Not sure where you are talking about but beware banks elsewhere usually charge for every item
What I should have said is that I need to transfer money in to my Spanish account to pay the mortgage etc, but live in the Uk have seen a couple of companies that offer a transfer service without commision and no bank charges at the other end, just wanted to know how othe folk handle this sort of thing
Cheers
We used a currency broker called Currency Direct, and found them very cheap, with a great exchange rate, also used HIFX, also very halpful. This was discussed on the El Mirador forum I think a few months ago, prehaps moderator can direct you to it.
http://www.currenciesdirect.com too - never had a problem with them, good commision rates too.

We use FX Solutions. They use Barclays Bank so if you are also a Barclays user or take the money to a Barclays branch and pay it you will not be charged the £20-£30 by your own bank to transfer it to FX Solution account. FX do not charge commission.
http://www.moneycorp.com to transfer funds from UK to a Spanish bank account. I can't personally recommend this company but it might be worth checking them out as an alternative to the others already recommended.
Hope this helps.

Just to say thanks for all your replys
If when you pay money into you Spanish account via either 1 of the companies any you are charged a commision by your Spanish bank the will get that commision back for you.
As an example as I write this post Currencies Direct offer €1.4484 to the pound while the current tourist rate is €1.37 to the pound so if you are transfering a large some of money that rate difference will mean more Euros for you in Spain.
£10000 at €1.4484 = €14484
£10000 at €1.3755 = €13755
You have just made €729 without needing to pay any commision for just making a phone call. The transfers normaly take about a week from the time you purchase you Euros pay for them and they show on your Spanish bank balance. I would advise to always do your exchange on a Monday if possible then it will be there by the weekend 9 times out of 10.
Currencies Direct transfer your money into their spanish account then transfer it in to yours, so my bank did not charge me for receiving the money, which again saved us a few hundred euros. Carole
Thanks all think i have now sorted things out but will leave my options open for future
I found them very helpful and, as they say, you can call them as many times as you wish without any hassle ( which I did).
I didn't know anything about this company till I read all about them here and was wondering what would be the best way to get this money to him.
Thanks once again HT for valuable info
Pat
