I don't know about a clock but would she be able to have a mobile phone touching her body and have it vibrate at the set time? Even if she just puts it in her sock!

She doesn't have (and doesn't want) a mobile phone despite the fact we think she should have one! In view of the fact that she has to have a special amplified phone from the RNID at home I doubt very much if she would be able to hear people speaking on a mobile. Even a most basic mobile would probably prove to technical for her to use! Give her the difficult Telegraph crossword and sudoku and she is in her element but anything remotely technical leaves her cold...........

a pager and you could page her at the correct time, one that vibrates!
Do the flashing alarm clocks work?

Hi pippa.i presume your mum is registered with the sensory team, they provide alarm clocks for the deaf that fit under your pillow and vibrate to wake you,if she is not then you can go through social services and ask for the sensory team to help your mum they also do door bells that flash they is no charge for this service good luck.

Yes, she is registered as deaf. She has a phone with an amplifier and also a special smoke alarm that has a flashing light and a vibrating section that goes under the pillow.

Normally it is not a problem as regards a clock but she will need to be picked up from her hotel in Malta at around 5.30am and she does tend to sleep soundly.

The problem seems to be that the clocks are are available are all with a digitial display rather than a traditional clock face. I am really not sure that she will be able to programme one of those - it could go off at all hours of the day and night!! I think she takes an ordinary travel alarm with her when she goes away but I suspect she doesn't really rely on it as an alarm clock to wake her up.

Will keep looking!

Hi Pippa

This sounds like what she night need,
Just a thought, as this may not apply to her situation, but might it be possible to email the tour operator and ask for the assistance of a local rep/hotel to help set her alarm clock incase she encounters any difficulty.
Hope you manage to get something sorted out.
