We always take enough CY£s for a few days and use ATMs the rest of our stay.
It may cost a bit extra but is much more convenient.
We shop at Orphanannies , Chris's or E & S and use cards.

From our own point of view we always take enough local currency for the first day or two then cash traveller cheques as we need them. We feel as though we are not keeping all of our eggs in one basket so if there is a mishap then at least the cheques are replaceable within 24 hours or so. Another way of doing it is the new American express traveller cheque card, thomas Cook suggested this for us this year but still to make up our mind. Apparently you just put the amount of cash into the card then contact american Express and set up your pin, all in one day! This is supposed to be usable at ATM'S and int the same way you would normal traveller cheques, good luck!
