Well here goes, this is just a general report not a blow by blow account but I thought others might be interested in a first timers views. We flew from Manchester with first choice, started out holiday off in good style by booking in the the exec lounge at Man airport, flight was on time and probably the best long haul flight I've ever had. On landing in Goa there only seemed to be our flight so didnt take too long to get through customs and immigration. Thanks to the info on here we were more than prepared for the scramble for the suitcases, we were polite but firm and managed to get our own bags to a taxi without too much hassle, told first choice rep that we were getting in taxi and off we went!!
We arrived at Palmarinha Hotel (hotel report submitted) and for all those booked here i am sure like us you will have a fantastic stay!
Most days we were up and out of the hotel by 9am to make the most of our two weeks. The hotel provides a shuttle to Calangue beach, from there we usually walked along the beach to the baga end, although we did have a couple of days at clangute beach (hilton shack) which we really enjoyed. At the baga end of the beach we alternated using oceanic, silver sands and bittus shacks.
We found ourselves a fantastic taxi driver for our trips out and about in goa. We visited old goa and some temples, the tropical spice plantation, panjim, cocoa beach, marjim beach, we went on the dolphin trip and we spent a night at godfreys indian retreat which was amazing.
the resturants we visited at night included; East meets West, The Mermaid, After Seven, Brittus, Bernards, Floyds, Electric Cats, all spice and seahshell. We had fantastic food in all of them and all are such good value for money!
We had a fantastic 2 weeks which is defenately not long enough, we only had one mossie bite between the four of us and none of us were ill with bad stomachs. We will be back!!!
So are you another Goa addict who will be booking up again?
Always nice to read comments left by people who have just been for the first time. Heard some good stuff about First choice flights, Monarch are miles behind. Having said that, we are flying on Monarch (cattle class) in 3 weeks time.

thanks for the report stanjan- so you are going to be a regular on the Goa forum then??
The information I got from here really did help us to make the most of our two weeks so thanks to everyone!!
You must have been on the same flight as us and we thought it was superb, would travel with them again- gonna look at your hotel review now as we are looking for Nov.
Stanjan....thankyou for telling us all about your first trip to goa ...you said in your report that you went to Godfreys retreat ....what is that please can you tell me a little more about it .....when are you going back there is just something about it... you want to go back again and again............colleen
thanks i love reading trip reports
I love reading trip reports too thanks for posting
The day/night we spent at the retreat was definately one of the highlights. We had pre booked via their website(not sure if I am allowed to put the link on here but feel free to pm me if you want it). We were staing in Calangute and it took us just over 1hr to get there. compared to everyhting else in goa its a bit more expensive (£35 per person for 1 night). They have lovely cottages as accommodation, there are 2 elephants, they teach you about goan culture and traditional dress, evening meal with a jungle camp fire, they have two swimming pools and a jaccuzi, then in the morning you have the option of going on a sunrise walk finishing with a session of yoga, we had a go at everything and found the experience fantastic. Anyway let me know if you want any more info
