What are you hoping for by way of recompense?

I know you didn't get what you paid for and whoever you booked it with should have been aware that your daughter was too young for the bunk beds. However, you got the sofa made up for her each night, and you had a fabulous holiday. Really, I don't see what more you could ask of them.

What would the alternative have been? Would you have had to book a larger room at higher cost? If that's the case then you can look at it as you got lucky, rather than focussing on the negative.

I agree with the above post. No they should not have booked a room with a bunk for a 4 year old although many people will have children this age in bunks at home but with a guard rail.
I think if the sofa was made up then a 4 year old could easily sleep on this and I think you are going to waste time and effort trying to get someone to do something about it. What do you think you deserve? I don't think there are any grounds for compensation.

I have to agree with the others re compensation. However, perhaps in future it should be made clear in their brochure that the bunkbeds are not suitable for children under six. The assumption made by anyone reading about bunkbeds would be that the bottom one would be ok for a little one to use.

The sofa sounds like a reasonable solution and as one of the adults could have slept in the bunk there was a bed for everyone. Just not in an arrangement that would suit most families....

I'm guessing the double bed was underneath the bunk bed? therefore the only single bed available was not available to anyone under 6! This should 100% be told by First Choice as it's quite important!

Having looked at the Royal Caribbean website I found it lacking in "practical" information which would have prevented you being put in that position. At least in my opinion. They are not alone, reading some complaints here on HT the problems often seem to be caused by "advertising overkill" The FAQs never really address what we really want to know. I think the service you received on board in helping to resolve things is worthy of a compliment - but I also wonder how often they get presented with the same problem. Maybe talking to staff and acting on what they say would help prevent the problems. The main thing is you had a great holiday once they resolved things.

I told him the holiday was fantastic but for two weeks we were put out and I would take further advise.

As a result of this statement I would advise forgetting it!
