Have not been to the area of Bayahibe but have been to the North of the Dom. Rep 6 times. Here is a website for you to look at and the company is a well known company, but I am sure when you get on your holidays there will be many operators offering tours with different prices, but at least this will give you an idea what is on offer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Angie - my sister has been to the South, but none of us have been to the North before.
No problems glad I could help. We go to the North because there are more things to do, but we are thinking of trying Punta Cana next well Bavaro actually.
I'm sure that's where Shirley h went, stayed at the Riu Merengue Angie.

Other way around Helen, we went to the North and are going to the south this time. Never mind, I think you posted well after your bedtime
Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus (IHD) and the Casa Del Mar, now known as Dreams La Romana I think.
Embedded within the IHD thread is information on what trips are available in that area so it could be worth reading and seeking updates on the trips that interest you.
The out back safari trip was one on offer.
There are two hotels in Bayahibe which have some useful threads, the Embedded within the IHD thread is information on what trips are available in that area so it could be worth reading and seeking updates on the trips that interest you.

We're staying at Dreams, La Romana. When we stayed up North we did the Monster Truck Safari trip and TBH I wouldn't mind doing one again this year. It would also be nice to try something new.
You will have to do the island trip just because it is there. Watching out for flying fish is interesting and one tip is to get on the land side of the cat - any waves splash over the offside.
I noticed an interesting river trip, but too late for us to go. There is also the italian village to wander about.
Our day trip to Santo Domingo was interesting, we visited Chris Columbus Jr's house, the oldest cathedral in the Americas and the Aquarium as well as a couple of local shops. Not sure how much of the itinary was normal as it was a tropical storm day and throwing down water by the bucketful so we bus hopped from place to place trying to avoid drowning.
