Hi Tucky This may sound a bit daft but is there any problems with mozzies??? We are currently booked to go to the dreaded Pegasos Tropical in turkey but everybody that posts reviews is moaning about the mozzies (amongst other things) so i am thinking of changing to the Planos Bay. Apart from mozzies is it a nice hotel and resort?
Thanks
snap we were booked in to the pegasus tropical but after hearing all the bad reviews we changed at the last minute before the balance was due to the planos bay going on 23rd aug have only heard good reports and to be honest after the holidays from hell programme last night am really glad and can't wait to go.
Zante Star Apartments in Tsilivi.
Top class accommodation in a great resort. Lovely beach and plenty of bars, restaurants lively and more reserved are all available.
Hi and welcome I have requested this accomodation be added to the Zante hotel reviews,(it may take a couple of days) but when possible please post your reviews for our members
Hi soontobethin, i guess your back now? What was it like? Is it as good as all the reviews say? I hope so!! We have changed now so its a bit late if it isn't!!
we had a great time have posted my hotel review already the resort is fairly "touristy" but the planos bay is at the quieter end the rooms were lovely and clean and we had two bedrooms, the kids club is fab, but being a family hotel we did find there was some large groups of familys which were sometimes noisy when they returned in the early hours, but i suppose you get that anywhere.
would not advise you book any tours through spring tours (just up the road) as we booked a half day trip and ended up going on a full day trip around the island (along with many other annoyed people) but we spoke to people who booked with smile (further up the road) who enjoyed their trips with them. you probably won't see any turtles this time of year they go off to pastures new around begining of aug.
restaurants, -popeyes dreadful, the olde vineyard lovely (bit more pricey)
manos and zues- great stanmes (over the road) average, georgeos bad service ave food
water park good day out. anything else you want to know ?
I don't think I would recognise Tsilivi nowadays. We have been 5 times but the last time was in 1998. It was one of my favourite destinations( obviously!)The last time we went we noticed The Cats Whiskers and the queues of people waiting to go in but steered well clear of it. What I liked about the resort was the typical tavernas. I can understand why it is so popular as it has a great beach and is ideal for families. Just not for me anymore.
Thanks for all the info. Can you recommend any of the tours? I have an 11 year old son, so will need to keep him amused!! Glad you had a good time. We are going mid June so will the turtles be there then?
Thanks
PB
Wondering what the weather will be like? Also anyone know if there are ATMs in the resort, anywhere to hire bikes, and can anyone recommend any restaurants?
Many thanks for any help.

If you head for Popeyes on the opposite corner is a shop with an escalator outside, underneath the escalator is an ATM. We went to Tsilivi three weeks ago and the weather was good, not sure what its like at the moment. We stayed at the Tsilivi Beach Hotel, they have a resturant that anyone can use, its called the Boat House and it was the best food we had while we were there. If you go out of your Hotel and along the beach to the left you will see the Boat House resturant. Hope you have a good holiday. Ann

I was in Kefalonia - just across the water! - last week and it was mixed with some warm day and two of the most amazing storms I've ever seen.
just got back on monday from zante, weather was warm but nearly got swept away with all the rain, resort just about closed, plenty of atm machines, good bars and restaurants if open.
You can find loads of info here
nice resort, friendly people, and plenty of bars and restaurants. enjoy!!
Don't know about the weather, but have stayed at the Zante Maris hotel, it was very nice indeed.
many places were closing and lots of trips have ended too which made it hard work with the kids as the weather was not on our side -but the main bain of the holiday for me was, and I am sorry to say it as I wont return because of it was the flies so many flies it was unbelievable, they were everywhere, people looked like they were taking fits on sun loungers, we couldnt eat outside, no amount of candles did the trick, I have never ever in my life seen so many, they were everywhere! most of this problem stems from the fact that although there are plenty of large bins and the actual island was clean, none of the rubbish is covered over, many bins were crawling with maggots
the greeks are very friendly and zante is a fab and beautiful island, but this is the first time we have been to greece since the euro came in and the prices have all been rounded up quite a bit and although we found bars that were reasonable and you could get an excellent meal for a fiver, the supermarket prices were unbelievable in places, with many putting ice creams and cans of pop at £1 and £2 and when you have 3 kids it begins to run dear.
sorry didnt mean to rant on, I do hope you have a fab holiday, tsilivi is beautifull and although it will be quieter I hope you get good weather
forgot to say plenty of places to hire bikes , moped and cars BUT be warned the latest craze is quad bikes and according to the english manageress at our hotel you are not covered by your travel insurance on these, and there has been loads of accidents this summer!

Going on our first ever trip to the Greek Islands in June. I have read great reviews about the Hotel (Tsilivi Beach Hotel and Studios on Zante), but mixed reviews about the resort itself. Is it true that Tsilivi is full of English and losing its Greek character? are we still going to be able to find decent local restaurants selling good local cuisine? We are 3 adults and 2 teenagers with a 'no chips' and 'no Red Lion' attitude to holidays. Any body with any input for us please
havent stayed in tsilivi but got married there in 2003 on the beach. we were told to go to the acropolis restaurant as this is where all the greeks go we went to the one in lagana for our evening meal after the wedding and it was out of this world. it was up a long winding road out of the hustle and bustle and the owner is very proud. i would asume the one in tsilivi is exactly the same as all the reps were raving about it when i told them where we going for our meal.
my hubbys relatives stayed in tsilivi during our wedding holiday and they have never been to greece before they have since been to cyprus and greece so it hasnt put them off and they love getting away from pub meals.
hope this helps. lindsay.
You're bringing back some lovely memories lindsay. My hubby and I also went to the Acropolis restaurant in Laganas during our holidays. What a lovely place that was! The mezzes were amazing...and really suited me as I'm vegetarian. Hope it's still there!
