I am sure you will have plenty of help and at least you will be in your beloved Tunisia.
Aslemma. Hope you have a lovely holiday in spite of the arm! Hope we will still be here when you get back, but if not, we will be in touch anyway. Enjoy!
We'll certainly be in touch one way or another Digby but I very much hope HT will still be here for many more years.
Have a great time Aslemma
Thanks Grahem, I'll certainly do my best. I leave for the airport in 45 minutes and it's just started raining. I'll be in touch one way or another when I get back but I'm very much hoping to be able to write a report on here.
I'm glad to say Dorra and I did manage to meet up and have every intention of keeping in touch. My plaster comes off on Tuesday, after which I will post more, but typing is still difficult as I'm sure you will understand.
Glad you made it back in one piece! It was good to meet you.
My plaster comes off on Tuesday, after which I will post more,
I had expected a plethora of posts today from you Aslemma
I hope all went well with the plaster removal and your arm is Ok.
I was expecting loads of posts as well!
Hope you had a lovely holiday despite the plastered arm - how was the weather in the end?
I hope your arm is ok, will you need physio or anything like that?
Dorra - I returned home OK but unfortunately my camera did not, as it went missing somewhere between the medina where I took some pics in the morning and my arrival at home when I realised it was not in my bag. I am very much hoping you can send me some of the pics you took at the old house as I have obviously lost all of mine.
The weather was fine Roswell and the last day was absolutely glorious so I now have one brown arm and a white one, together with a sunburnt nose.
I'll try and post more later today

Mmmmm, not another camera excuse for no pictures this year again, I am starting to wonder if you actually go to Tunisia or if you just nip off to Skegness for 2 weeks
I hope your arm starts to get better now that you will be able to move it a bit more
There did seem to be more tourists this time, particularly in Sousse, but the general situation is still pretty bad, with many hotels closed, some ostensibly for refurbishment, but only time will tell if they actually open again. Riadh Palms was fairly full but Hana Beach was almost empty, despite which the staff, though very pleasant, showed a general lack of direction. Drink orders were taken in the bar though frequently didn't arrive, toilets often lacked paper and sometimes even light bulbs, spoons, both for soup and tea, had to be asked for, I had to change my first room as the key wouldn't work and in the second room the lock for the wardrobe, which acted as a safe, was broken. On the plus side my room on the 8th floor overlooked the sea, with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower and the maid was charming. There was no entertainment in the evening and the staff seemed keen to chase people out of the bar by about 11pm. Rumour has it that there are serious financial difficulties, though whether this relates to the whole Hana Group or only some of the hotels isn't clear.
I took a couple of trips on the pirate boat from Sousse which were very enjoyable as the lads have known me for years and looked after me, bringing my food up on deck to save me going downstairs. I also had lunch at Farmers with an English friend who has been married to a Tunisian and living there for over 40 years.
All in all it wasn't a bad holiday but obviously not as good as usual so I may have to go back again. I'm obvously putting in a claim to the council in respect of my broken elbow so I'll see what happens with that - I may be able to afford 5* next time.
Well, all being well I'll be back in Sousse on 5th November, in fact flight and hotel have been booked for a while now. There is, however, still one fly in the ointment. The elbow I broke in March has still not mended, in fact the bones are further apart now than they were then, with a nice load of gunk between them. I am therefore going into hospital next Friday for an operation to clear out the gunk and fit a metal plate, pins or a bone graft, or quite probably all three. The consultant doesn't think there should be any reason why I can't fly but I'll obviously have to see how things are nearer the time. If I do go though it will certainly not be the holiday I wanted to make up for my last one.
Incidentally the deadline for the Council to admit or deny liability for my accident was last Wednesday but so far I've heard nothing, though whether the tardiness is down to them or my solicitors I don't know. I'll contact the solicitors again om Monday if I still haven't heard.
Hi, Aslemma - we are just back from our first holiday to Tunisia and I can say that it won't be our last! I will put in a report as soon as I can. Got back to find daughter had been in an accident so I am a bit behind at the moment.
I'm so pleased you enjoyed your holiday prawn but sorry to hear about your daughter. I do hope she wasn't too badly injured and is soon fully recovered. I look forward to reading your report.
Had our jaunt to Cape Verde in May but so wished we had gone back to Marhaba Palace instead - Boa Vista sucks!!
Not sure when we will get back to PEK, recent there were a few funny vibes again re salafists causing mayhem, dont think this will help the tourist industry if they keep this up.
Many of us,Tunisians, ex pats and regular visitors alike, are getting thoroughly fed up with the actions of the salafists and the government and police's apparent inability or unwilligness to clamp down on them firmly enough, but tourists still seem safe, especially in areas such as Sousse, PEK and Hammamet. As you say though, the reports will do nothing to encourage any but the most dedicated lovers of the country to return and that is what is needed to help the Tunisian economy. On the plus side, those of us who do go are assured of an even warmer welcome than before.
I finally had the operation on Thursday and they fitted a metal plate and bone graft after scraping out all the gunk. No plaster cast this time and I've got to go to the doctors to have the clips removed before starting physio all over again but at least I can have my holiday, though for the second time this year it will not be the holiday I wanted. Still no admission or denial of liability from the Council but my solicitor is going to include a claim for my loss of enjoyment when they do eventually respond.. Luckilly the weather in Tunisia is still really nice so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way.
Hopefully it will knit properly this time and you can start enjoying your holiday, at least that gives you another excuse to go back to Tunisia
