Something about the place that makes me smile. Only seen a fraction of what's on offer but I could live there if the truth be known. Anyone else feel the same way or have actually gone for it?
You're not on your own mustafaholiday.
hi the last time i was in turkey was 10 years ago in marmaris and wasn't a lover of the holiday. our apartments were very basic and we had power cuts nearly every night we were there. maybe been to spain too many times but would like to try it again. i went with my young son at the time was only 5 and my parents, hubby couldn't go,work committments, now we are four i have a daughter and have been to salou the past five years. we tend to go for 4 star hotels and are not sure of which resort to go to. if anyone has any advice about hotels etc. please help. thanks
Decide on your resort, then look at the hotel reviews. I'm sure you will find one which you will like.
Marn.
Turkey is wonderful and you can enjoy many different experiences. Most resorts are different to each other in so many ways but what doesn't differ is the Turkish mentality which is to make sure you have a happy holiday. I've been to about 6 different resorts and this aspect stands out a mile from other countries such as Greece, Spain. They really cannot do enough for you.
If Marmaris is a bit big and brash for you, I can recommend Dalyan, Oludeniz and Kalkan although they are much smaller. All of those are well placed for day trips to wherever you fancy. Many recommend Icmeler and I keep hearing good reports about it but haven't been. Icmeler is bigger than the above that I have just mentioned.
Can you give us a bit more about what you like from a holiday? Size of resort etc?
hi sandc thanks for your reply. i would say that salou is quite a big resort and it has portaventura and the waterpark there, which we all loved and used all the time as it was just up the road from where we were staying. i mentioned our accomodation in marmaris, not sure of the name of the apartments, but do remember they were near the pineta hotel and green park or nature?? and they were set back about 10 mins from the main road. sun something or other?? small, not a lot of apartments. we are used to hotels with day and evening entertainment and kids club, i think i mentioned 4*.going for strolls along the front.also shops is a must for me. p.s. i'm not a very good traveller i.e: planes buses etc,so the quicker i get there the better!!last year i made for good reading so i was told on the dorada site, between me and another writer who was the same as me(flying )this is one of the things that is putting me off from going, apart from not enjoying it 10 years ago. so.........
I've also been to Salou and I'd say it's pretty much around the same size.
From what I hear Icmeler really might suit you down to a tee.
i'll have a look at it on the reviews. thanks
hi any reviews on club anastasia? please let me know thanks
I've been a member of HT for around 3 years but haven't logged on for quite a while. Came back today, tried to log on but couldn't remember my details. I've moved house since I was last here so I don't think my IP address will show up.
I've been living in Kusadasi for 6 years and I'm originally from Belfast. First lived here 1990-93, married to a turkish man and we have 3 children.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things on HT.
Hi Alison welcome back ,there is a topic running just now called turkish men ,quite sure you being married to one should be able to give us some first hand information.
I posted this in another thread earlier.
Im using "before you know it" to try and teach myself a bit of Turkish for this year.
This phrase should be good for anyone out for a walk near the shops etc

Hi Leigh and welcome to HT!
I leave early tomorrow morning on the thomas cook flight from bodrum to Glasgow hope this clarifies ....what I find was a very sarcastic comment to a new member....from a moderator ?
Leigh
You said you live in Scotland (present tense) and that you lived in Kusadasi (past tense). I took that to mean you were in Scotland at the moment and had lived in Kusadasi in the past, not that you were there now.
Apologies for any confusion.
luci
No delays so far and its a goldtrail flight so fingers crossed it leaves at 03.05 !!
I will be back in Kusadasi from 3rd of May I start work repping again...
