Humphh!!!
Ships, sinking and rats are just 3 of the words that spring into my tiny patriotic mind!
:( :( :(

I just wish my wife could be persuaded to come up with the word "deserting".

All the best to you both, and I don't think I would choose anywhere else in Turkey, except Kas,

Thanks for your comment parky45,rats ships and sinking are our sentiments as well. Kas is nice we have visited there,I suppose there are many parts of Turkey acceptable for residancy, but as we know Fethiye best, and after twelve years of holidays there,Fethiye knows us,we have many Turkish friends there, and we think it is the place for us,and we are looking foreward to exploring a lot of Turkey.

Hi, since I've read and re-read all the information on here regarding Oludeniz, I'm looking for other websites where I can read about this resort please. We've booked for next summer and I just want to know as much as possible about the place. I'm so excited. Any website recommendations please?
Thanks

Hi  and welcome to the forum!

Where are you staying for your first trip to Turkey? I'm sure there will be plenty of people to answer your questions.

Hi Kedi

We are staying at the Medisun Hotel in Ortakent.

Thanks very much :)

I don't know the Medisun but Ortakent is a lovely resort, quite traditional and very relaxing. The beach is beautiful there too. We are staying in Gumbet this year but we will probably go out to Ortakent for a day.

Oh okay then Kedi, thank you :)
So are all of the resorts in Bodrum easy to get to throughout the day and night on the bus or in a taxi?
Because we were hoping to go into Gumbet or the Centre of Bodrum a few nights to visit the clubs, pubs etc. :cheers
But we are unsure how easy they are to get there and back especially after a few drinks.

How do you normally travel around the island?

It is very easy to get around by bus. They are little mini buses called dolmus and you just stop them wherever to get on and off. The domlus all go into the centre of Bodrum and from there you can get all around the Peninsula. You can get a dolmus directly to Bodrum from Ortakent, it takes about 25 minutes. If you want to go into Gumbet you can either get another dolmus form Bodrum, it takes about 10 minutes, or you can just get a taxi straight from Ortakent to Gumbet and that will take about 15 minutes. There are plenty of taxis around at night so it will be easy enough getting back too.

We normally get around by dolmus or taxi, it is quite cheap and there are plenty of both around.

Oh that sounds fairly easy enough :)
I think we would probably be more than likely be getting taxis straight to Gumbet specially as we wont be leaiving the all inclusive drinks at the hotel till later on :cheers
Sorry to keep asking so many question but thank you very much for all of the information you have provided me with :tup
Just one more question, how much is it going to be in a taxi or on a Dolmus from Ortakent to Gumbet?

Thank you Kedi :)

Hi,
I am going on the 22nd May for one week to Marmaris and payed £183 per person and thats flights hotel and transfers, then I go back on the 27th June for one week and payed £235 again thats for everything except food, but now I have found another bargin for Oct but I have never been that late in the season, I have been in sept many times and the weather is fantastic at that time of year but I,m not sure about Oct so any info would be great.
Thanks Kristina :cheers :cheers

The dolmus is pretty cheap, about 1.70 lira form Bodrum to Gumbet and probably around 2 lira to Ortakent so less than a pound. I'm not sure of taxi prices as my husband usually pays for that ;) but I don't think they are too expensive, I think from Gumbet to Bodrum is about 15 lira, around £6 so it would be about the same or a bit less from Ortakent to Gumbet.
