Don't worry there is a lot of vegetarian food in Turkish cooking, plenty of meze, salads, vegetable kebabs, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, cheese pide, soups an many other things. Your wife will find plenty to eat.
The word vegetarian is very close to the Turkish word anyway so they will understand what you mean
In addition to the phrases JMK has given you can also say 'etsiz' - without meat
I'll get my wife to start practising those phrases.
What's the Turkish for "I'll eat any old cr*p" lol

English breakfast please LOL
Stewart
Yep, I reckon that would be about right lol.
I won't be eating any typically 'English' food while I'm there, I like to try the local food and am a big fan of Doner Kebab's here in England, so I'm sure they'll be far superior in Turkey.
Oh doner kebabs are nothing like the ones we get in England! Over here they are all mashed up 'meat' dripping with oil but the ones in Turkey are made form proper pieces of meat and often have vegetables squahed between the layers to. They are so much nicer. There are so many other types of kebab too, Turkish food is delicious.
There are loads of different kebabs - adana kebabs are a kind of spicy meat stick, shish kebabs are chunks of meat on a skewer, amphora kebabs are a kind of casserole baked in a clay pot which they break open in front of you, etc. Oh dear, my mouth is watering now!!

Also, if I'm dedicated enough I suppose I could always go for an early morning run along the beech, but then again it is my holiday so probably won't
i was careful last year, i lost 4 stone before i went and whilst there for the 2 weeks put on 4lb (which I got off by the time I went to weigh in lol!!) so not too bad!
this year i go having lost 7 stone and am going for 3 weeks so gonna have to be extra careful lol!! but am not gonna miss out on the kebabs or efes
Well done to you alizda for losing 7 stone - that is amazing !
Yes, very well done indeed, makes my 1/2 stone loss sound pitiful lol
half a stone is still fab! bet you'd notice carrying a bag on your back with 7lbs in all day lol x
Although I'm a non-smoker some people have asked me to bring back some rolling tobacco so my question is:
if you are buying this i strongly recommend you only buy in the duty free shop either at airport on your way home or on the plane - do not buy in the resort! they will tell you that its genuine but it wont be, it'll be the scrapings off the floor!!!!
Thanks alizda, will bear that in mind. I've also heard that it's best avoided in the markets as this too is not the genuine stuff.
anywhere in resort, be it shops or markets, will more than likely be fake!
Another thing to bear in mind, if you're wanting to take it out of the country, fake tobacco won't have the government sticker on it (it was orange, not sure if that's changed). If you try and take tobacco out of the country with no sticker, you're likely to end up in custody so only get original tobacco is you intend on bringing it home. Your holiday rep, if you have one will give you more details.
What is the time difference between the UK and Turkey? Reason I ask is that according to our flights it's 2 hours in front but I see the weather reports from Paul and John and it looks like they are 3 hours in front?
Thanks
Justin.
[edit] I'm going to the Bodrum area (Akyarlar near Turgetreis) if that helps?
SunSeeker2011,
Yes, Turkey is always 2 hours ahead
I know the 'small' curency is kuruÅŸ (100 kuruÅŸ = 1 Lira) but how is kuruÅŸ pronounced?
a quick search on Google says it is pronounced "koo-roosh", is this correct?
Just a few more, is Karaincir pronounced Car-an-jer?
And I'm guessing that Akyarlar is Ak-Yar-Lar (pretty much how it is spelt)
And Turgetries - I'm guessing Tur-Ge-Trees.
could do to know how our holiday destination is pronounced lol.
