Many moons ago (when I had hair and everyfink!!) a few of us would turn up at Birmingham airport and wander up to whatever holiday companies customer desk and end up catching a (very) cheap holiday. In these days of increased security and having to supply API, can you still do this?? I ask because I have have been suffering a long illness and just need to disappear for a week or so to recharge the rather knackered batteries!! I want to go to my favourite destination of NE Mallorca and just chill baby!!

the way our friends do it is pack the cases, put them in the car then pop into town to say thomson or better still an independent agent and ask what deals are available for departure in the next 24 hrs, his last holiday he had 4 hrs to get to his local airport pick up his tickets and book in and make departures...within 8 hrs he was sitting by the bar of his hotel having a cold one..
If you have had a recent illness then perhaps you should check that you can get travel insurance to cover you before you start looking for a holiday. You need to declare all pre-existing medical conditions otherwise the insurance may not pay out in the event of a claim.
