I went down to take a look but they weren't there. It's behind the Pernera Beach hotel in Pernera.

Looks quite interesting.

I may look into it more on one of my trips next year.

Hi Les B
I did the sea-walking in May this year and would highly recommend it. My family thoroughly enjoyed it, in fact my 12 year old nephew wanted to go back again the next day. It is very professionally run by an English couple (their names escape me), it is very safe and altogether a memorable day out.

thanks people

i will be definitley having a go

do they provide you with the swim suit and how long do you get???

Hi we did this the first year it came out, and have had another go a couple of years ago. We enjoyed it, the black suits they give you, and you wear it over your trunks/bikini etc. A man goes down with you and you hod onto a safety rope as we descended into the sea. It is not that deep as pedaloes were going over our heads etc.

We did this from the Pernera beach hotel, but they do pick ups from different hotels.

Enjoy it :D

Hi Les B,
As already said, everything is provided for you. We forgot to take towels however and it felt pretty cold when we came back out the water. Other than that, you don't really need anything - just enjoy !

Do you have to wear oxygen tanks only my son suffers from hayfever and they wouldn't let him have a go at scuba diving where we stayed this year.
From the pic, it looks like a helmet. Can anyone help?

Hi,
Yes it is a helmet with a tube attached that feeds your oxygen supply. It is obviously heavily weighted to keep you on the sea bed although you don't feel this at all. The whole experience I reckon lasted about 45 mins from memory. There was one person the day we went who just couldn't go under the water - I think he felt a little claustrophobic - but there were some young kids aged about 8 or 9 who managed no bother. It is an enjoyable day out but I guess not suitable for everyone. Our family had a great time.

Stumbled across their website... http://www.underseawalkers.com !

But their map says the platform is in De Costa Bay, not Pernera?

Wow, that looks great. Think the bairn will be okay as you have plenty fresh air ciculating and nothing covering mouth/nose.
Is this near Limassol as this is where we are staying.

Limassol - Protaras is about 75 miles I reckon.

Marion,

On the web site they say they are located in Pernera, De Costa Bay must be the name they give to this area.

28cy is a bit rich, I paid just 18cy for a 1.15 min dive off green bay in October

Hmm, I thought De Costa Bay was at entirely the opposite end of Protaras, where the appropriately name De Costa Apartments are :?

My photo above was taken from almost right outside the Pernera Beach Hotel...so maybe they "sea walk" from both beaches ?

Has anyone done the undersea walk in protaras. I have looked on their web site and it looks great for non swimmers like me, as you walk rather than swim.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has been. Is it realy as simple as it looks.

Hi all

I would also be interested in knowing if anybody has tried it. Wanted to do it last year but my husband did not fancy it, trying to talk him into it this year though, so if anybody has any positive feedback it would be useful.

A friend tried it when he was on honeymoon (in Caribbean I think, getting old and can't remember) said it was fantastic.

Hi,
If you look back on this forum there is another thread on this (somewhere!) Myself, my partner and our 12 year old nephew all went undersea walking whilst in Protaras last year. We found it a great experience. It was extremely professionally run by an English couple and they ensured we were well looked after. Our nephew enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back the next day. There were quite a few children the day we went, the youngest of whom looked about aged 9 so it really is a day out for all the family. The one thing I suggest is that you take a towel and dry clothes. Even in the glorious Cyprus sunshine it felt very cold coming back out the water having spent about 40mins underwater. In all, a fantastic day out and highly recommended.
