we are going out on 23rd may too was staying at Luperon but First Choice had cancelled their contract so changed our accomodation.
what shall we do re: injections
how close to the time to u need injections
We are travelling to Dom Rep 29th May. We were advised, to have at least 4 weeks before travelling, Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Tetanus (if you have not had one within the last ten years). The tetanus jab was a triple - tetanus, diptheria and polio.
We have also been advised to take Chloroquine (malaria tablets) for one week prior to going, the two weeks that we are there and for four weeks on our return
We are travelling to Dom Rep 29th May. My 10 year old son only had to have Hep A jab.
We have been advised to take Chloroquine malaria tablets for one week prior to going, the 2 weeks that we are there and for four weeks after our return. Our son needs to take 1.5 tablets per week and we need to take 2 per week.
With regards to Tetanus we were advised that because the medical care may not be brilliant in the Dom Rep you should have a tetanus jab if you have not had one in the last ten years.
Hope this helps.

Im surprised that your tour operator didnt include information regarding the jabs etc with the tickets/booking, this was one thing that Thomson did do....(failed in all other areas tho lol)

think your doctor was in the wrong for sure i would report him........... i have been researching this and you do need them for sure ( do some research), why take the risk and end up in hosiptal for months....
I went to the doctors this morning to get my jabs done for my holiday to Cuba. I was told that I only needed Hepatitus A, and nothing else. Is this right? I thought that typhoid was recommended too?
I had mine done for Cuba 3 years ago, and I had hep A and typhoid, my mum got them and tetanus. One of them lasts for 5 years, and one needed a booster after 6 months, but lasts 10 years.
