Hi all,
I'm looking to go next year (October 14) & also paying for my parents to come with us as a surprise, and have a few questions if anyone can help? I know there's a possibility of hurricanes at that time of year, but we're used to that as we normally go to Florida around that time of the year.
We want to fly from Gatwick, and our options going by this year's brochures are either Varadero with Virgin Holidays / Kuoni, or Cayo Coco with Thomas Cook. Our budget for next year will be £1550 max per person (not including Havana). Which resort would you recommend as being better in terms of food quality? Most of the reviews I've read for Melia Peninsula, Melia Las Americas & Iberostar Varadero say the food isn't that good, compared to the reviews for the Melia Cayo Coco.
Has anyone used an internal flight from Cayo Coco to Havana? If we chose to stay at Cayo Coco, we'd rather do this than spend 7 hours on a coach getting there.
Are there any other tour companies you can recommend that go from Gatwick to Varadero? Is our budget per person do-able?
Thanks for any help

The Cayos are great but isolated and entirely tourist (no locals except tourism workers its great for a chill out holiday but if you havent been before Havana is a must see and a few days there would be ideal this would be easier from Varadero.
Hi,
If you want to go to Havana, Varadero is obviously the easiest resort. I've not been to the Melia Cayo Coco for 6 years, but I believe it's been refurbished since then. The internal flights are operated by Aerocaribbean. You can check them on
