Weather usually hot, but can have sudden thunderstorms. Can't help about the rest - sorry!

Went to Sol a go go last year - Wonderful time. Site is quite small but staff are incredibly friendly. The beach is less than a stones throw from the site (we had to walk all of fifty yards from our caravan). If I had one tiny suggestion for the owners it would be that the swimming pool complex was a little small, but I like to swim rather than play so maybe I'm being churlish. Besides which, the sea never gets crowded 'cos there's so much of it!

Went in June and the weather in the main was fab. High 80's there or there about, but agree with Alsacienne, can be a little unpredicatable on times.

Loads to do and see in the area with St. Jean to your North and St. Gilles & Sables D'Olonne to the south. Further afield is La Rochelle, Nantes & La Roche sur yon (all with loads shopping and sightseeing).

Ten years holidaying in this area and I still keep coming back. 'nuff said

I was in St Jean De Monts last year during mid July.During the two weeks we had 2 day's rain, two overcast but warm days and the rest was blazing sun with temperatures running mid thirties.Glorious!!
It was different from the Brittany climate as the temperatures never dropped very much at night time.We were able to sit outside in t shirts until midnight. Air conditioning would have been useful!
I found the Yahoo 10 day forecast very accurate for Vendee area.

Done that area for about 5 years on the bounce and always had good weather.
used to take 1 x lightweight waterproof coat, 1 x sweater / fleece & 1 pair of trousers (just in case) but usually spent 14 days in shorts and t shirts.

:) #We went to sable des loire last year at the beginning of july, the weather was good although on arrival there was a storm the weather improved dramaticaly, i would reccomend a site called les pirons booked through suncamp, excellent if you do not mind the lack of English folk

Hiya

We have been to the Vendee twice in August. The first time the weather was great. Last year, we went the last week in August and it was pretty dire- a lot of rain and not all that warm when the sun was out. The weather is so unpredictable though- we were told the week before we arrived was really hot and then another warm front was coming over as we left. I think basically the Vendee is probably not quite far enough 'south' to be totally safe. However it is a lovely area and unless all you want to do is sun worship, I can't say the weather stopped us from doing anything.

We spent the middle 2 weeks of August 2004 in a tent on the Vendee. You probably won't remember, but the weather in England was foul: high winds, rain almost every day, temperatures in the very low 20s.

In St Hilaire, we had 1 big thunderstorm, one morning of drizzle, and the rest of time it was warm - about 26C - and often sunny. Certainly well fine enough to spend lots of time on the beach, by the pool or the lakeside.

On the ferry on the way back, I was talking to a couple who had spent the fortnight in Brittany. They'd been rained out nearly every day. It seems that Brittany weather's much closer to England's.

As someone said, the Vendee's not far enough south to guarantee sunshine, but your chances are greatly improved.

We spent 10 days in the Vendee (St Jean de Monts) late August 2004 and had rain every day - sometimes all day. I hadn't taken many warm clothes and I wore the same pair of trousers every day. I didn't go in the pool AT ALL during our holiday - it was too cold and windy but the children ventured in a few times. We needed the fire on in our mobile home too. Somedays the sun would come out mid afternoon and stay until really late but it was cloudy and usually wet in the mornings. I think we were really unlucky but just make sure you pack TWO pairs of trousers!

Good weather on the whole late may/early June last year. Only rained one day in 10 and was sunny otherwise.

Can be quite windy though - found some great sheltered coves around St Gilles.

Sol A GoGo was a good site but pool caught the wind a bit. We are back in same area this year but at Les ecruils across the road, hoping for good weather!!!

I've been in August when the children were still at home and we had 14 days of lovely sun although there was a thunderstorm which lasted all night. The air was lovely and fresh and clean the next day though.
It is on the Bay of Biscay and sudden storms can occur.
Generally it is a good place for weather and as said above your chances are better than Brittany for example. It isn't Mediterranean.

Last year and this year we are going the first full week in June for 10 days. We had one and half days of cloud last year and sunshine for the rest of the time. Temps were 22-24 when the sun was out and 17 when it was cloudy.

We stay in Jard sur Mer at a site called Les Ecureuils. There are lots of English companies such as Eurocamp, Keycamp there but in June it is relatively quiet although very busy in August. There are lots of other nationalities. We go with Canvas Holidays and cannot recommend them highly enough. Their service friendliness and prices cannot be beaten imo.

3 weeks to go and I cannot wait. 8)
