Can't help but sounds interesting. Have only spent 5 days in Saigon and would love to see more of Vietnam

We went on a tour of Vietnam with THG holiday. They were great, reasonably priced and everything went smoothly. We had 2n in Hanoi/ 1n Halong Bay/ 3n Hoi An / 3n Saigon and 3n in Phan Thiet. We had all excursions included.

If you go to Vietnam try and find a tour where you spend the most time in Hanoi, Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). As nice as the other parts of Vietnam are, these are the real highlights which obviously include excursions from the cities.
I personally found Hoi An to be a major disappointment. I don't know if it was because people had talked it up so much, but we found it very touristy and there was very little to do apart from shopping (if you want a new shirt, suit, shoes etc you might like it).
As you are likely to be over that way, some time spent in Cambodia would be a good choice as well. Avoid the capital Phnom Penh and stick to Siem Reap and the Temples of Angkor. Phomn Penh is alright, but you have to have a serious stomach to visit the torture prison there and the Killing Fields just outside the city. It's history, and obviously very much modern day, but some of our group just had to leave especially at the prison. The city itself has a pretty good nighlife scence but I just found it a bit scary. Siem Reap by contrast is a lovely city, very bustly and with lots to do nearby.
