I was watching a programme the other week , think its called " emergency , what's your number " and its about the emergency services and what they have to cope with , and you don't need to go to a sunny foreign place or have producer/ programme makers egging on / setting up drunken behaviour , you can just go to Blackpool and see British people behaving like this with no prompting , ( I think they also feature other seaside resorts ) , so this must be a good practice ground for us Brits to then export this brand of how we entertain ourselves , I doubt the programme makers have to try too hard .
I have little interest in watching these programmes , but they are a reflection on how SOME people act , and I know I acted in this way xxx years ago , having holidays with friends and enjoying going out drinking , partying and
, I thought it was fairly normal behaviour for a 20 year old bloke , I didn't go on organised holidays and didn't need anyone to egg me on to do something stupid ( we were all capable of that naturally) , luckily there was no TV cameras following us around , it would be embarrassing to see it now , I do agree that these type of TV programmes can exploit people when they are most vulnerable and while its ok to be in a situation like that with your closet friends you don't really want everyone else seeing you like that and then be subjected to the media attention it generates .
The newspaper reporting of this does make me laugh , they are happy to moralise about people making a story of people drinking , having sex , which though distasteful and unpleasant are legal while they stop at nothing to make a story , even breaking the law to hack mobiles etc , so is their view worth anything ?
