Warners now that they are effectively Bourne Leisure seem to be giving less for more money. On a visit to Holme Lacy we found that there has been a segregation of guest according to accommodation. The rooms are OK and comfortable but, maintenace things are not monitored and our radiator would not turn on because the valve ha jammed and bathroom fittings were falling off of the wall. All should have been picked up by staff and not left to guest to complain. The worst thing was the service in the restaurants. In the first instance there seems to be a lack of direction to staff who are for the most part from recently EEC countries. The carvery meals leave a lot to be desired. Roast potatoes are obviously prepared hours beforehand and merely warmed up to resemble deflated leather rugby balls which have lost flavour. Dishes ordered from the kitchen take ages to arrive. There was a lack of staple items such as rolls, croissants, honey, treacle are set out in the tins in which they were purchased without any means of spooning them out with the result that the receptacles were sticky and gooey. There was no reduced fat spread as an alternative to butter On one night it took staff an hour to serve a starter. One of our party ordered duck which never arrived (presumably they were still trying to catch the unfortunate bird). Another dish took so long that the restaurant manager went and hurried it along when five minutes afterwards another identical dish arrived with another waiter. On the plus side, the entertainments team were first class. Perhaps Mr Bournd would like to pay an unannounced visit without all the helicopter razzamatazz that he likes to find out for himself. Our days of Warners are now at an end. The Britsh tour industry is still in the days of the Raj!
