been to Crete several times in early October .... the average max temp is around 25 deg it has on occasions managed to hit 30 deg that time of year be prepared for an average 1 wet day per week

Not September, but I got back yesterday and it rarely got above 27 and we had quite a lot of rain. One day it rained all day with thunder and lightning, and on other days we had showers. It generally tended to get quite cloudy on most afternoons with spits and spots of rain. Obviously come October you could probably expect a degree or two less and maybe a bit more rain.
