Viv, i've been to Luxor quite a few times and for me february is just a great time to go! You are spot on with your expectations, you should get a lovely tan but be prepared for the evenings to cool down quite a bit.
You say that you are going for the sightseeing. Well, a lot of the visits to temples and tombs are quite early starts, so you can need a cardigan or light jacket before the sun gets high enough to warm you up.

Yes Carrot is correct, lovely & warm during the day but can feel really quite chilly in the evenings. Also the chance of an odd sandstorm in Feb but only a slim one. Then the skies seem grey & it can be cool in the day too. Early this March we had one, the daytime temp dropped dramatically & it was very windy.
