Does anyone know what the weather is like in Tanzania in February?
Does it vary across the country by much?
Because of breeding seasons for different animals, what are we more likely to see on safari that month?
Can anyone recommend a good web site for Tanzania? Or recommend a good safari operator? (Don't want a package hol, hope to work one out ourselves!)
Thanks
I went on holiday to Tanzania and enjoyed every part of it. I was told weather in Feb is not too bad, but the rains are on the anvil then so its a bit dicey.
The one thing i could not get over in Tz was the blatant discrimination between foreigner and local. If you are a tourist you pay upto 5 times the local rate and they dont hide that fact. Infact it is posted in Big letters all over the place and you really feel cheated. For example the entrance fees to the Parks ...at Ngorogoro i paid 55$ while a local paid 15$ . Local airfares are double for tourists and you pay in $$ only.
Having said all that the parks are absolutely wonderful and its an experiecne that i didn't mind putting down money for.
There are loads of Safari operators but the best around is Danny McCallum Safaris ..contact them http://www.dannymccallumsafaris.com/ based in Arusha. Best way to get there is to fly to Kilimajaro international airport. Have local transportation arranged before you come as the taxi cabs will charge you 50$ for a 30 km ride.
Have loads more stories but a little busy today !

good selection of links here, too.
It is just so mind boggling but what on earth did we do before the internet?
Will check those sites out andthank you for the personal insight also!

I do like being able to research a place before visiting, but then I research far too much and end up with almost no surprises when I get to a place! However, I will say this- Tanzania will surprise you (in a good way) no matter how much online research you do
