The average maximum temperature in October is low to mid 70's fahrenheit with the latter figure more likely near the start of the month so the brochure is about right or may even be a little conservative. I have been in Menorca at the end of the month for the last two October school half terms and some days were even hotter than that. However, October can also be the wettest month of the year in the Balearics so there will be always be a chance of having some cloudy, cooler days with some rain anytime in the autumn months there.
We had a week in Menorca at the beginning of Oct a couple of years ago and although we had mostly lovely warm days we did have a couple of cloudy mornings. We found the sea still nice and warm as well.
I went to Menorca the first week of October a couple of years ago. The first part of the week was lovely and really hot. The second part got a bit colder and we didn't have any sun the last couple of days - from what I can understand it can be a bit hit and miss!
