Hi. We were in Sa Coma last year from 20 to 27 October and we couldn't believe the weather - we had sunshine every day. We hired a car at the airport for the week in case the weather wasn't too good but it was just left in the hotel car park for the week. Because it was late in the season, it was a bit quiet but most of the bars were open. We left on Thursday the 27th Oct and I think most bars were closing on the following Saturday. We had a great time and will most likely be going back this year. Never been to Sa Coma in high season, can anyone tell me what it's like. :D

hi we stayed in majorca in october 2004 and the weather was great cept for the last two days when we had thunderstorms which looked fantastic .The main thing for us was that the sea temperature is better than the best uk temperature and this means that you can swim in the sea in october .There is a great site called weather underground which if you fiddle on with you can find the average temps and weather for particular dates in the past

Hi we went on a family holiday to magaluf last october,We had fantastic weather in the high 80's every day.We never had a spot of rain.We always take the kids away in october as they are very fair and high season would be to much for them (and myself and hubby). We have decided to go to cala dor in may this year and i hope the weather will be just as kind to us as it was in oct.

My parents overwintered in Majorca for around 5 years, and always said it was touch & go in October & November. We stayed the last 2 weeks of October in 2001 to "celebrate" our silver wedding. It was raining when we arrived and it proceeded to rain for the entire 15 days we were there. There were ferocious storms and trees were lifted from the pavements and thrown against hotel windows. We had 36 hours with no electric in the whole resort of Santa Ponsa. Who would have thought we'd spend our celebration playing cards and scrabble and doing jigsaws. We had to go & buy clothes in Palma as we didn't have anything suitable. The upside was we saw far more of the country than we would otherwise have done, as we were constantly jumping on buses to find something to do. The headlines in the papers were "worst weather in Majorca for 25years". Suffice to say we haven't been back. Hope your luckier than we were. ps.Was anyone else there at this time.

Hi,

Thinking of going to Cala Bona (Hotel Alicia) end of October beginning of November - any idea what kind of weather I could expect? Will there be many places open?

Thanks

Cala Bona will nearly be closed , some bars will remain open but not many. It is just luck if the weather is good. I have been late October a few times , rain all week one year, the next sun all week, the next a mix.I still love Cala Bona and given the chance I would go. Maybe hire a car and explore or walk to places off the beaten track when the weather is cooler. The Alicia is a lovely hotel so you would have no worries there, it might be nice to go when the majority of tourists are gone to see the real Cala Bona. Hope this helps.

Hi. We went to Sa Coma (last October 20 to 27th) and the weather was absolutely fabulous, wall to wall sunshine every day). We hired a car from the airport cos we expected the weather to be mixed but we never used it only transfers to and from the airport.

It's pot luck with the weather at that time of year. We went in October once and the first few days were ok, but after that it was like being at home.

We went around the middle of October and had a glorious week. The following week Majorca had torrential rain and thunderstorms with trees uprooted, etc.

We went 2 years ago at the end of october, staying in Santa Ponsa. It was sunny everyday except one when it rained but it was still warm and we managed to be by the pool every day and get a great tan. The resort was beginning to shut down and the main square in santa ponsa had already closed for the season but there was still plenty of local bars and restaurants to go to. We are going back again this octiober, although a week earlier and to cala d'or, so it can't be that bad as I wasn't put off. Plus it is alot quieter so you don't have to fight for the sunloungers off those pesky germans!!!! :bhead
Hope this helps,
Emjoys your holiday,
Love

going out on 10th october, should i be able to use my bikini or should i leave it at home?
Reply
Take your bikini. Weather can be changeble so go prepared kagoule(just in case you get a shower), a cardi for night time. A good few years ago we went half term to Puerto Pollensa and it rained every day (but only for a short while) and cloudy BUT we had a great holiday. Went out and about and did things we wouldn't have normally done and still got a good tan without lying around. The next year it sunshine all week, I am sure you will have a good time whatever the weather brings, always better than being at home!

As said before it's pot luck in October. We went last year the first 2 weeks in October and had a great time. The weather was mixed, around 2 very wet days, six overcast days and six very sunny days. You can get out and about more as the weather is more suitable to long walks.
Going back this year the first two weeks in October again, can,t wait
