travelling to kefalonia, in August for our honeymoon. What we wondering would we be able to take one of the tiers of the wedding cake with us, as we have friends out in kefalonia. Best solution would to be able to take it as hand lugguage
appreciate any response
Moved to flights section.
Probably not. Based on the fact that my tuna sandwich was not allowed through a couple of weeks ago.
latest security restrictions, there's no mention of wedding cakes on the prohibited list! Why the tuna sandwich was confiscated is a strange one, there was no reason for that. Current restriction only prohibit liquids, gels, creams and aerosols with a capacity of 100ml or more, not food stuffs. I wouldn't like to give a definitive 'yes', but my interpretation of the restrictions would suggest it should be fine. It maybe worth giving your airline a call to check or asking the resident experts on the hand luggage thread.

That's an interesting question! Having just looked through the DfT's Darren
Regardless of whether they'll let you through with it at security at this end, the crucial thing would be to check whether there are any import restrictions at the other end too. Some countries won't let you import foodstuffs at all. others have lists of banned items. Butter (and other dairy items) and fruit (whether dried or fresh) are often banned for fear of cross contamination so check out the Greek Customs regulations too.
Why not put it in a HUMOUNGOUS tupperware container or a BIG tin and pop it in your hold baggage? I know that's not playing the game ............ but how important is it that you take it with you? Why not ask your friends to order the local equivalent of a greek wedding cake, and enjoy something exotic and different! (The French one is choux pastry buns encased in sugar caramel stuck together in the form of a cone - YUM!)
