Hello everybody
I am so pleased to have found this site, it is excellent! I am getting married in the Capo Bay on 12 July this year and I am getting so excited!! I am having the wedding and the reception in the Capo Bay as I have heard so many great things about the hotel. There will be 21 guests at the wedding. I am really looking advice on what entertainment to have? Is 21 guests too small to have a DJ, or would it be even worse to all be sitting in silence all evening? Is there background music? Any advice would be most appreciated!!!!!!!
I get married at Capo Bay 1 month today.
Which venue do you have for your reception? there are 2 I think.
I know in one of the venues (Bay View Terrace) you are only allowed a DJ until 10pm as there are rooms above, they will provide a CD player if you just want to take your own CD's for either venue. We have 35 guests and think we are going to go for a DJ even though we are having the bay View Terrace as he starts playing at the start of the meal, we will just have to make sure everyone gets up and dances as soon as they have finished eating as they will only have about an hour before he has to finish.
I will post back on my return.......
All the best for the big day!!! Cant wait to hear all about it!!
Not sure which venue I am in, I have seen pictures and I know it overlooks a small swimming pool?!
Are you bringing favours, table decorations etc with you, or are you leaving it until you get there?
Kerry
We're flying out on 1st June to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary on 4th June. Can't wait!!!!!
Managed to get the same chapel at the same time, but a different priest
Get to wear my dress again...yippee!!!
We are getting married at the Nissi on the 25th of this month, i am looking for a recommedation for some good hair dressers, but not toni and Guy, my W2B had a bad experience with the branch in Protaras last August. If anyone knows of any please let me know - cheers
We visited the Nissi last August, and the area round the Gazebo was very quiet, hadly any one passed and it was the bank holiday week, we are taking our own favours with us, and have booked the nissi taverna as the rondavel was booked.
Good luck and happy planning, it comes around sooooo fast.... x

I am a newb here
Me and the other half have just decided to get married next year in Cyprus. I have been looking at a website called cyprusdreamweddings but cant seem to find any reviews on them anywhere on the internet. I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies have had any experience with them and if so how was it?
Or would you recommend going with a more commercialised company such as First Choice ect?
I have not yet booked anything but am reading all I can
Hi blossomsuz
we are getting married july 10th at capo bay,so we'll see you there!! . so far we plan to have the carvery on the pavilion and then dj and cypriot dancers. we only have 26 guests but i feel we need something lively to get us all going. don't know what other options there would be.
i was thinking we would love a free bar for guests which could end up costing a fortune but i'l see what feedback i get first from other capo brides.
everything seems to be in place just trying to get an idea of what hairstyle and flowers i would like, to show them in cyprus on the day.
are you staying in hotel, are you using a wedding planner?
can anyone help ?
We are organising our wedding ourselves for this September and seem to be struggling to find a photograher in Protaras area - only 2 keep appearing -Stills and George Kyr.. - I know their work is good but really wanted someone different .My cousin used a greek guy Stavros in the Golden Coast who was lovely but can't find a contact for him
Has anyone out there got other contacts for photographers
thanks
Mato
Hi Mato
i'm new to the site and so i hope that i am posting correctly
I am trying to arrange a wedding in cyprus and have shortlisted a couple of hotels, Capo Bay (which seems very very popular) and the alexander the great in pathos.
does anyone have any feedback on the alexander the great?
any comments would be welcome
thanks
Steve & Jill at Still productions do DVD not photos and are brilliant. Costas Kyriakides, is the most experienced and talented photographer on the Island, he is fantastic!
If I can help in any way, please pm me.
Many thanks
Kerry x
That is so cool!!! I will be able to get all the goss from you!!! We have booked through Argo holidays and are staying at the Capo Bay for 2 weeks. When do you fly out?
We are having a bbq on the pavillion but still cant decide about dancers or a DJ. A free bar sounds like a great idea, but knowing some of my lot I would end up paying the bill back for the rest of my life!!!
This time in 7 weeks you will be married and I will be getting married tomorrow !! The weeks are flying in, it is getting so exciting!!
Have you heard anything about wedding cakes, I emailed Katerina at the hotel but haven't heard anything yet?
Kerry
its my dads birthday the day after and then thurs is our last night and we fly back friday evening. we are having a honeymoon then in barcelona and then mediterean cruise without 3 yr old!!
most of our friends will be there a week ahead of us, they'll be so tanned! 8). at this stage i can't wait,it should be a great holiday and a wedding to remember. i know what you mean about the bar bill could be hugh, i suppose i'll decide when i get there as friends and family don't know about it. i reckon i could have saved alot more money if i tried harder but i find it so hard to choose and end up wanting it all.
The Alex is absolutely beautifull, nice Lobby & reception area as well as a cocktail bar. The pool at the rear is well maintained well layed out not to cluttered. manager & staff will go out the extra mile to assist you & very friendly, cannot tell you about the rooms as I have not been in one, also it located ideally for the Harbour & all the restaurants & bars
hope this helps
The Alexander the Great is our favourite Hotel, excellent position with loads of good resturants within walking distance. Great sea views over the harbour, friendly staff and a fairly unique sunbed reservation system that eliminates the need to get up at the crack of dawn to put your towels on a sunbed.
Have a Great One
thanks for your replies. i've had a few mixed reviews on the alexander. the most worrying for me is the mention of resident cats (as i am allergic to them!! ) and that depending on the room you get, you can experience quite a bit of noise.
does any of that ring true?
thanks
The Hotel is on Poseidonous Avenue which runs from the harbour back to a number of Hotels. This road can be noisy and therefore we would recommend that you do not use inland view rooms in any of the hotels. We know they are more expensive but the full seaview rooms are to die for.
With regard to the cats - there are a few cats in most cyprus hotels but the hotel is certainly NOT over-run with them and they were never a problem to us or our friends when we stayed there. (We now have our own places in Cyprus so only visit the hotel for drinks and to meet old friend these days)
Have a Great One

sorry I have not been on for a while I have had internet difficluties
However I have been researching since we got it back up and have decided that we want to get married at the Grecian Sands Hotel in Aiya Napa I have been in touch with MedWeds via e-mail and they are sending me a brochure out.
We are also wanting to stay at the hotel for a week. I have read lots of good reviews about medweds so am seriously looking into booking with them sometime before July. We are hoping to get married in September 2008 (a while away yet I know) I have found a photographer that from his website looks amazing so am looking to book him also he is called Costas Kyriakides.
I will be sure to post when I have booked everything and let you all know how I get on
