can anyone tell us what to pack, and need to wear at xmas.
i am getting too many different reports.
first off i am told, why did you book sharm at xmas, it isnt at all hot??????? you wont be able to sunbathe or get the shorts and the swimwear out, as it wont be hot and the pool and the sea will be freezing.
then i am told it get dark suddenly at 4pm,
then i am told it is cold and freezing at night, and we will need a coat?????? now do i take a paddington bear style coat, or just a fleece or just a slopy joe???????
then do we have to SMART and all dressed up for the xmas gala meal which is on xmas eve, and if so i havent a clue if we need thermals or just some summer smart casual or to dress for black tie dinner???
HELP
can some one or every one please let me know, i am not desperate, and thinking of cancelling and going somewhere that will actually be hot at xmas, (not the canary islands).
The temps will be fairly nice, you may get a little rain, but it hasn't rained properly for years. Sweaters/jumpers for night or a casual light jacket. In the day, its like our summer, most pools will or should be heated, the temps in the day will be 18-23 degrees. It will be cooler at night, but a lot warmer than the UK at this time of year. You would get a way with t.shirts in the day no problem.
It does get dark quite quickly from 4pm onwards.
Take a black tie just in case, and bring a smart casual jacket and trousers for nights if it a posh event. Never heard of anyone taking a suit.
Hope that helps.

Cool on an evening.
Sunbathed every day so had a good tan to come home with.
It is dark about 5ish - time to have a pre dinner nap!!
Egypt over Canaries everytime!!
Bex
tee shirt and shorts during the day...or just swimming cossie by the pool...soaking up the sun.
its not roasting hot...but i would still say its hot!!
it does get a bit cooler in the evening....but we just took a cardi or light jumper...certainly no BIG coats!!
as for the gala meal...we did dress up for that...they are quite big events...we just put our party clothes on certainly not tie and suit affair though!!
the sea...is it warm....its probably warmer in it than out of it....just be careful though...we would snorkle till the sun started going down and you do feel the cold when you get out of the sea.
and if you have been going for the last 6 years Bexmark26 then it sounds good and of course hot. i know its not going to be as hot as in may ( i went may 11th), but certainly wanted it to be hotter than canaries (which i dont think is that hot, and can rain, especially over the north).
i assume you guys went to Sharm?
and can i ask what hotel?
Hi
next we stayed at the renaissance golden view hotel...ras um sid area...BRILLIANT hotel...but not being round a bay getting into the sea was a bit scarey..lastly we stayed at the sonesta beach hotel....not as grand as the renaissance but a hotel that had everything we could want and the snorkeling was excellent at this hotel..and not so scarey!!
I always go to the Sonesta Beach resort and casino, 20 mins walk into Naama Bay x
We returned from Sharm El Sheikh in June, while we were there we made many friends who work at the hotel, we have booked to go back on the 7th January 2009 and have been told that the tempreature is around 75 to 80, but we have also been told that it gets dark at 4pm, but I have never heard anyone saying it is freezing, that is just not true.
Hope that helps
Ann
