Calangute has everything to make you feel like you are back home.

Well said Chilly!

No one is claiming that Molly Malones is the best bar in Goa or even in any way authentically Irish but on St Patricks night it is the place where a huge number of British(and a few Irish) people go to celebrate St Patricks day, a celebration that takes place in every corner of the world.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if they want to get together with other British/Irish people to have a bit of fun and laughter (Craic) then thats their choice.
Roll on Paddys night in Mollys!!
:cheers

Yes John, I do prefer the South as it's quieter, beaches aren't like cans of sardines. The times I've been to the North to meet friends I found it full of 50/60 year old Brits who think they are still 20, most were either stoned or p***ed!! If you've ever been to Colva you will know that Indians probably outnumber Brits by at least 5 to 1. PS. Have a great night in MM :cheers

Uh huh....... British tourists almost at their worst.

Or....., full of dazed youngsters wondering where the action is and why there are no parties anymore.

...... Why do you need an Irish bar to celebrate..... that's a bit Irish? Especially one without Guinness?

Agonda for sure! And On Topic.... go there in March.

Here's an interesting daily scene in Calangute I witnessed last yea,r at this time of day you are likely to be down the beach and don't see this.

Last year I spent a good few hours of an afternoon 1.00 till 3.00 around the Redondo at Calangute square. Well, it's a sight for sore eyes! The cream of British tourisits (or what the tourist board regards them) too *** out to make it down the beach because they had more than their quota of 10 Kingfishers and 4 honeybees the day before (probably spent their daily Giro allowance). Hobbling about complaining of the heat, sweating profusely from their folds of burnt tattooed lard in inappropriate dress sloshing back more drink. Were they having fun?.... they looked puzzled and not very amused. Sadly to say very few other nationalities around. Loads of them... Oh to be on the 'brew' or incapacity benefit.

Even more interesting if you have to go to the pharmacy, I had to get 'botty pills' and the like, couple of young kids in queue buying Valium and a few old codgers buying a **** load of Viagra... it can all make for an entertaining afternoon. I'm sure I saw a few lookalikes that would have got on 'Shameless'.

I sat with a friend of mine who is worldly wise who had not been to Goa for 20+ years and hadn't seen the like anywhere for a long time.... he likened it to... well I'll not name anywhere. We had just arrived after spending 2 weeks down South.

It's amazing that anywhere in the world you supply cheap beer, english food, sky sports. karaoke, domino pizza you will find these deadbeats.

Sorry but this is the truth.... honestly. And please don't tar me with the everything I post is negative. Any newbie is welcome to PM if they can't find my positive posts or view any pics. Please remember that I do like parts of Goa.

16 years spent holidaying in Calangute, so I am classed as a deadbeat by Big Neil !!
I have to say I find that post extremely offensive.

Can't help but wonder....is the Goa I go to the same one as Big Neil ?

Or are my glasses rose tinted :D

Neil, some of the things you post do make you come across as an awful snob.
How can you possibly know if people are spending their Giros etc or do you just assume that because they enjoy different things to you that they are somehow inferior.

Sorry but this is the truth.... honestly

I believe you but 9 out of 10 on here won't :)

Snob... whatever you think... IDGAS

Look I sat and couldn't help listening to numerous 'blaggers'. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out what they were talking about.

Offensive? Ok lets change things a little and substitute British for Russian. Is that offensive?

Another case of denial, its not exactly 'undercover' style of reporting.

How do you thing a lot of the scammers pay for their holiday in Goa? I have met plenty of people (through clients) in successful trades and make a lot of money and pay for their holiday in Goa with 'V'. It even surprised me! They even joke about it. My Taxi driver in Goa was always saying to me.... I know a good chemist.... cheap V to pay for your holiday sir.

Look, all this goes on for sure!

I'm just waiting on the Shameless special when Frank Gallagher goes on holiday in Calangute.

they enjoy different things to you

I have only been to Molley Malones once and that was St. Patricks Night last year. We got there late and the party was in full swing. Yes, I was "P****D, not all of our group was though (10 of us), and yes, I would probably have been classed as a DICK by some but I couldn't give a flying duck - we all had a great time and loved it. If we were there this month we would go again. Met a lot of new HT friends there last year too.

I also like going South and enjoy the peace and quiet down there!

None of us are on the doles! Occupations of people in our group who were at MM's are: Trainee accountant x 1, post production engineers in music business x 2, Taxi company owners x 2, Electronics company owner x 1, Engineer for Rolls Royce (also a radio DJ) x 1, shop worker x 1, teenager x 1 (at school) and residential social worker x 1.

And none of us do drugs either - except alcohol - sometimes in excess and sometimes not - after all, we ARE ON HOLIDAY! :cheers

In an effort to get this back ontrack I have had to delete a few posts from this thread. Please note that a few posts have had to be deleted because they were in response to the main deleted posts.
Let's get back on track now :D

Sometimes I totally despair of some of the people who post in here and then I ask myself why I continue to read and post in HT. I am glad I havent seen/read the deleted posts, it would probably have made up my mind for me ie dont come in here anymore.
Someone is asking a simple question about what is happening in March and members have said a night out in Molly Malones, Holi Festival etc etc and all we get is snidey, rude, derogatory comments.

Ignore it Gemma, some people like to appear controverisal, it makes them feel important. At the end of the day we are all having a great time in Goa. I so wish I could be at Molly Malones on 17th, hope you all have a fantastic time, don't do guiness but someone have a very large Jamiesons for me :cheers

Well, I don't think Big Neil will be causing any more controversy on here, he asked to be removed from the forum this morning.

Your right Roxey, best to be ignored. :)
We all like to do different things on holiday and thats fine cos thats what holidays are all about, but its not nice when people make comments which are offensive to others, its just because what youre doing doesnt appeal to them. But we are all different with different likes and dislikes and need to accept that.
There is nothing wrong with constructive critisicm but no need to be down right rude :que

And to get back on track about March :rofl
Today I booked an overnight stay at a guest house in Agonda, looks fantastic and so peaceful, really looking forward to that. I want to travel to different beaches and try some new places.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone at the HT meets again :D
Must keep notes this time and do a trip report as well!
