it was the initial post info I was querying. We will just have to see if anyone is unlucky enough to lose their passport, just how long it takes.
I've tried and from now on will give up, so please dont waste your time slagging me off. If you think its not important, fine
Er..no one is "slagging" you off - we just need the info to stand up to scrutiny. This is, afterall, 'holidaytruths' - not otherwise
The link in the initial post makes it clear that this information came from the British Tourist Assistance Office in Panjim, run by Mrs Caldeira. This is a sub-office of the British High Commission, and is the first port of call for British tourists with major problems who feel that they need the assistance of their Government.
Hope that allays your doubts, it has not been made up, I can assure you.
As to what you can do to avoid this problem;
Dont trust hotel safes with their own Rs50 padlock on them
Bring/buy here your own decent one
Dont walk around all day with your passport on your person
If you are changing money or getting a phone sim card, take straight back and lock it away again.
Never, ever leave it laying around anywhere
Thats it now, I'm completely past caring on this one.............I thought personal attacks were against the rules on here. Its clear that it no longer is.
In fairness to J5 he is trying to give everyone some sound advice.....you can take it or leave it,free world!
J5, you offered information, it's up to the individual as to what they do with it. I am certain it hasn't fallen on deaf ears, the silence was deafening but they were listening and the ones who responded were responding in a positive way even if you didn't think so. I found it useful, in fact, I have decided to take (well mostly) cash instead of TC's so that I don't have to be wandering around with my passport in my bag more than I need to. A few TC's and to obtain a sim and that's it, the passport stays in my safe, under lock and key and where I can see it. If I am mugged for the key they have to know where I am staying...........now THAT'S a security issue, Does'nt mean you will get mugged by a Goan does it Sorry, but it has to be said. Not saying anyone here is dishonest.............sorry if I have offended.
