And you and your other half can stay in Goa for three weeks wating for permission to leave for £250 a head? At tourist rates that would be difficult, but factor in "at home" costs as well, just tjhink about it. Where does this complacent "I've emailed myself a copy of all my documents come from?
Has anyone actually read this thread?
The whole point of it was to notify that if your passport is lost or STOLEN, it is now a major and time consuming issue.
Where you have stashed/e-mailed copies is totally irrelevant, but........
So pleased to see so many members are taking this precaution, but in terms of this scenario, useless!
I state again.................e-mailed, photocopied, tatooed on your bum, copies are irrelevant.......completely, you cannot travel on them, all they can do is help with a replacement passport. And this change in the rules is, in tourist travel terms, EXCEPTIONAL, so please be aware.
The whole process starts AFTER the crime.............and the message here...........if anyone bothered to read it, is...........as of now it will take a lot longer!
Do not dismiss this please. Read and try to understand the implications (and check if your insurance would cover this all too common scenario please)
That is "all too common to most destinations", where it would take a few days to solve the problem!
I started this thread in an attempt to help people avoid a major problem, and have watched all the completely useless responses flood in.
I've tried and from now on will give up, so please dont waste your time slagging me off. If you think its not important, fine.................I really do not mind.
Love and kisses
