Grandma and I are making our first visit to Egypt in January, staying at the Amwaj Oyoun Hotel and Resort in Nabq Bay.
Their website has a good option to see what the place is like, (360 panoramics etc) so we have some idea of the rooms, beach, pools etc but of course no real idea of food, service etc - seems like most reviews describe all AI food as edible but not inspiring!
Hotel reviews we have seen for the Amwaj on the Internet seem to give it a fairly 'clean bill of health' so hopefully all will be well.

We've arranged accommodation and flights seperately so we don't have a transfer booked yet - I'm all for walking to the main road from the airport for a taxi but I've got a feeling that grandma won't have any of that so I anticipate 'airport taxi hassle' ... any advice?

We've taken the following onboard, anything you think we've missed?

  • Don't even clean our teeth with the water.
Watch out for ice - look for the 'hole' that shows it's from bottled/filtered?
Clean our hands regularly, especially after handling money and before eating, (taking wipes and gel).
Don't get ripped off by taxis, agree a price beforehand and make sure it's for everyone not per person.
Don't be fooled into going into shops unless we really want to.
Watch the use of the room bar/fridge, recording anything used.

Any other current information/recommendations that you think will help these 'oldie' travellers will be greatly appreciated.
:thanks
