Maybe I didn't make myself very clear with regards to passports/visas validity. I was curious if like passports, the airlines can over rule the entry country's requirements, and insist on their own, like they can with passports.
I know visas don't have to have 6 months left. I was interested as to whether given that the OP was issued a 3 month visa, if, because it is stated on the tickets, the airline can insist on a 6 month visa?
I guess any airline can overrule a country's entry requirements.
I've seen that at work a few years ago when some over-zealous Monarch check-in staff at Manchester refused to allow people who didn't have accommodation vouchers to board.
Monarch at Gatwick did not employ this rule, nor did any of the other charter airlines flying to Goa from Manchester.
It was pure incorrect interpretation by MON MAN staff.
Unfortunately, that didn't help the Monarch customers at Manchester.
This was discussed at length on the Goa forum at the time.
More people than usual seem to have been issued with 3 month visas, even after requesting a 6 month one (this seems to happen particularly when an applicant is in a certain job).
I can see quite a lot of trouble at check-in if First Choice decide to enforce this condition.
Unfortunately this doesn't help the OP.
I personally would be escalating this within First Choice for a definitive answer as to why their travel booklet states that a visa valid for a minumum of SIX months when VFS are issuing 3 month visas.
The man I spoke to said that they follow the embassy guidelines but couldn't give me a definitive answer as to whether we would be allowed to fly on three month visas. In his words "well, it *should* be okay but I can't guarantee"
That simply isn't an acceptable reply.
