Hi off to Marmaris in may with my family, wife and 2 girls ,can any body
tell me where the best places to eat?
cheers....for your help.
What a question !!! Marmaris is wall to wall with good eating places. There used to be a thread on this topic so perhaps one of the Mods could help. Much will depend on where you are staying for a start. Are you near the Marina, in the middle, up in Armutalan and out towards Icmeler direction. Let us know where you are staying and hopefully a few recommendations will come in for places nearby. We are staying this year at Club Turquoise if you know where that is. Some of the places we will visit is the 'Garden', 'Uno Momento', O'Yes, the Taj Mahal Indian (being rebuilt we hope) Beefeeter etc etc. We also like to take a trip through to Icmeler which is also blessed with excellent restaurants.

Maybe you could give us some pointers as to where to eat.
We are stopping at Club Alize and will arrive at about 6p.m. so are looking for some advice for somewhere to eat on the first night so we are not walking around starving. There are two adults who will try anything but me and the two kids are more into "plain" food. Thought if we could have some suggestions for the first night we could walk around with our bellys full looking for other places for the rest of our stay. Plus will I be able to get cider or smirnoff ice to drink out there, thinking about taking a few over with me. (not a big drinker but I will miss my cold drink on an afternoon)
Eating in Club Alize itself is very good with an extensive menu. The tables last year were set out very tastefully. If you are not arriving until 6.pm then by the time you settle in, unpack to a degree etc then eating in might be the answer. Alternatively there are a number of restaurants nearby. Can't remember the names of them all but if you leave Club Alize by the front, turn right, walk about 50 to 60 yds and take the road up to your left you will immediately find restaurants. I remember one about 150 yds up this road called 'Elvis's' and it was excellent. Club Alize is well located so if you go either left or right you will eventually come to a restaurant. Your idea of walking about and looking is in my opinion sound, this is how we built up our 'favourates'.

Eating at the Alize sounds like a good idea - now why didnt I think of that!!!!
Thanks again, thats the first evening meal seen too.
hi laudan. we stayed at club alize last sept. and arrived evening like you. we got washed and changed and ate at the club alize. the tables were set out on the outside area near the pool and it was lovely. there was plenty of choice for everyone and there were no complaints from us at all. you will enjoy your holiday here i am sure we had a great time. the apartments were very spacious and clean. one of our favourite places to eat was natalies steak house along the front next to the beach. like you i asked on HT for recommendations and a lot liked natalies so we just went out to find it.when are you going?
We are going on the 29th May. First time in Turkey for all of us so Im making a list of do's and dont's. I will add natalies steak house to my list. We all enjoy a steak.. Thanks
hi legs, i would well recomend portifino's it is situated opposite long beach apts nr caria hospital, the owner is turkish he has a lovely scottish wife they run the place together, food is excellent and very reasonably priced the sunday lunch with apple pie and custard for dessert are to die for and you are always offered a free drink at the end of your meal (if you can make room for it) im sure you wont be dissapointed...Tracy
depending where you are my daughters myself and their families when we go we eat a lot at dennys near the pasabeach hotel its excellent
I agree that the portofino is an excellent restaurant and would like to add that its changed location. It can now be found on the main street in Marmaris across from the Ali Baba jewellery shop. Was in it in March and the food just as good! If you venture thro to icmeler id recommend a trip to the Majestic on the canal (not to be confused with the majestic boys!). The chinese food is to die for and they provide entertainment which is very good. They also provide a free taxi service, which we've used, and they pick you up and drop you off. Have a great holiday!
Just wondering...
You guys are not recommending any restaurants with real turkish food. Is that because they are no good or because there isn't any ??
I hope it's not the last options, cause when I travel I perfer local food. If I wanted spaghetti or pizza I would choose Italia...
And I read Turkish cuisine is 3th best in the world, så please tell me, there's lots of good turkish restaurants in Marmaris and where to find them
Have a nice weekend - finally the sun is out, the sky is blue and the temps. is above 10 c
Greetings from Denmark
I can't say definately for Marmaris. But, I can say that all the restaurants/bars I have visited in Icmeler do both and do them very well.
Then we have to visit Icmeler for dinner - belive it's possible to walk from Marmaris center about 10 km or ?
Why not go to Icmeler for the full day (once you have been there you will want to stay).
When are you going? I am there May 8th-21st and August 7th - 20th and would be happy to meet up and show you round.
I want to walk the way, cause I know I'm gonna need the exercise - I just love the food and the speciel turkish icecream
We arrive just after you leave - we're going on the 27th of may for 2 weeks - only 34 more sleeps
Thanks anyway for your offer and help - this is a great forum
One last bit of advice though. As you will have noticed, no one on this forum recommends just one place, this is because there are so many good ones and we all have friends in different places.
As you enter Icmeler (walking from Marmaris) you will cross the canal where it enters the sea. Even if you dont explore any other parts of Icmeler, walk to the top of the canal and back. You will then find a good selection of restaurants and may even be tempted to wander into town.
Enjoy!!
Thank you
Yum Lovely turkish food, the kebabs there are to die for. My hubby had a try of sheep brain soup and said it was nice but he was under a big influence of alcohol when he ate it
As others have said lots of restaurants offer Turkish food so im sure you will not be dissapointed.
Loulou
I'll defently visit one, if I can find it - did you see any in the Marmaris/Icmeler area ?
Maybe not the sheep brain, but who knows - it might be tasty
If its traditional Turkish food you looking for, I can recommend another restaurant on the canal in Icmeler. Its called Kerem and its next to the majestic. We have eaten here every time we've been in Icmeler and the food is fabulous. The family that own it are lovely and cant do enough to help you
