thanks glassgow girl for letting me know portifino has moved, i would have been gutted in july if i turned up there and it had gone. what is there now? also were is ali baba's jewellers...thanks tracy
try an authentic lokanti for great turkish food........ Yigit cafe opposite the "pearl" roundabout is really cheap and the food is excellent... 2 bowls of beans and rice ,1 bean stew, 1 kofte and veg + 2 bottles of water for 3 ytl the lot
Thanks sounds really good
The roundabout, in Marmaris or icmeler and what's the pearl, a hotel or ???
in marmaris there is a roundabout with a large globe statue on it. This is open a little and there is a pearl inside. I call it the pearl roundabout. Its just as you get into marmaris and the yigit restaurant is near to this roundabout.
Thanks a million
I cant place the exact location of the portofino but its basically a 5min walk from its old location. As you are walking down from the long beach towards the main road turn left and its just a few mins along the road. Sorry I cant be more specific, my memory not that good lol! Ill be back out there in 2 and half weeks time, ill have a proper look then
Lou xx
hi glassgow girl, not a problem know were you mean ......thanks tracy..
Anyone recommand somewhere for a nice Sunday Dinner. Does not bother me but the others dont like to miss theirs.
The Champaige Bar is spot on.
You get a great Sunday lunch at The Three Bells (near Tansas) their Yorkshire puds are fab.
Try the Chef restuarant in between the Diva Hotel and the Loveboat..Ive heard their quite good.
If in Icmeler try the Lighthouse had a lovely meal in here and had to return on our last night. If you are after cheap, there is a turkish pide place just after the crossroads heading towards the old village on the left where you can eat really cheaply, We had pides salad and two beers came to 18 lira
the steaks are more like a small joint of beef and are cooked to perfection. Although a little dearer than other places its well worth the money.
I also have to agree about the portofino the only place in marmaris to get a traditional sunday roast with all the trimmings plus all other traditional english meals. And as for the couple who own it such lovely people.
For more traditional turkish food we loved a place called the ibiza not far from the portofino and club julian hotel.
The food in turkey is usually of a very high standard so you should have no trouble in finding some great places to eat.
enjoy
