Hi, We love Cala Dor and the surrounding areas, the beaches are small coves of white sand and lovely blue waters, there is a lot of restaurants in and around the town with lots of shops to browse, then there is the marina with lots of qorgeous restaurants (very romantic setting) where you can watch all the yatchs coming and going weather you are having a morning coffee, lunch, dinner, it is my perfect holiday. There are lots of tours available to most places on the island and local buses that go to Palma regularly.Esmarelda is very pretty but is about a 10 to 15 min walk to the town cente. Hope this helps you decide. It is about 40 mins drive from the airport

Of the resorts you have mentioned, I would choose Cala D'Or. Its the most upmarket and sophisticated, and its not too British. There are some lovely restaurants, particularly around the marina and in some of the nearby little resorts such as Porto Petro and Porto Colom. Almost anywhere should be relatively child free in early July, but if you wanted a totally child free hotel you could choose the Rocamarina, which is a Thompson Gold in Cala Egos, just near Cala D'Or. The Melia Cala Dor is also a hotel that gets great reviews - its not a 5 star but apparently some people rate is as such. Sa Marina in Cala Dor is also a very nice hotel.
The area is surrounded by a number of small coves, which should be relatively peaceful in early July - some do get a bit crowded once the school holiday starts. If you want any further advice or have any other questions about the area you can PM me.
Puerto Pollensa would be my second choice from those on your list. I really adore Soller on the north of the island - its got an old town area and a port area, nestled between the sea and the mountains. I would also recommend that you investigate this area as it would be wonderful for a honeymoon, and a week would be just the ideal length of time to spend there. You can see more of the real Mallorca, and visit places such as Sa Calobra, Valldemossa and Deja if you plan to hire a car.
