Symi 10/10 day trip a little piece of heaven especially the monastery
Ios 10/10 because was on a school trip, got to know the locals well & stayed in the most fab little hotel the Liostasi Sun club which is another piece of heaven

Falasarna Beach 10/10;
Ag. Nik 8/10;
Elounda (Plaka - oppostie Spinalonga Island)) 9/10 - lovely and quiet..
Rethymnon 1/10 horrible! dont go near the park with the zoo, animals not cared for properly, can be upsetting.
Kalives 8/10 very quiet when we were there
Platanais 7/10 very busy if you like that, great restaurants on the hill.
Zante: Lagana 2/10 - great for 18-20's not 40-60's. First visit to Greece and it was a bit of a shock, but I still fell in love with Greek sunsets.
Corfu: Ag. Gordis 10/10 and more! Fantastic sunsets and quiet resort. Loved it...
Arillas (June 2006 - will let you know)
Samos: 8/10 - Samos town nice, Pythagoria nice to visit but wouldnt stay there. Lovely island to drive around with some nice isolated beaches. Cant remember the name of where we stayed but it began with 'K'. Very small resort with a lovely harbor.
With the missus:
Sidari, Corfu 2004 - 8/10 (good choice of nightlife and the best beach I've been to in Greece - Sunset Beach - just along the coast. The most picturesque of all Greek islands I've been to)
Hanioti, Halkidiki 2005 - 7/10 (something for everyone, great restaurants, gorgeous shingle beach)
Argassi, Zante 2004 - 6/10 (good restaurants, poor beach)
With the lads:
Malia, Crete 2000- 8/10 (my first holiday with the lads. Great memories!)
Hersonnissos, Crete 2003- 6/10 (plenty of nightlife, lots of Scandinavians and Irish tourists, a couple of nice restaurants on the front)
Faliraki, Rhodes 2002- 7/10 (great beach. Loads of bars and women)
Personally prefer Ayia Napa, Cyprus to any of these resorts. Gets a bad press but not what its made out to be. It really does offer something for everyone - fantastic beaches, scenery, restaurants. Nightlife as quiet or as crazy as you want it . I've been with the lads, with the missus and with the whole family in the last few years and its never failed to live up to our expectations. 10/10
Kos.......9/10 and hope to return sometime.
Skiathos 4/10 for sheer boredom after 4 days, lovely beaches though.
Skopelos & Alonissos ...fleeting visit, not enough time spent there but reckon on 6/10 for a few days.
Crete....9/10 loved the place, another return beckons.
Thassos.... 8/10 wife wasn't too good at the time but still very enjoyable.
Corfu...9/10 loved it! will return.
Kefalonia ....7/10 bit quiet for us but lovely place.
Cyprus? 8/10 would go back, wanting to try Samos possibly, next Greek trip.
Rhodes 5/10 (went to Pefkos - not impressed)
Skiathos 10/10 - absolutely brilliant - been twice
off to Samos this year. Watch this space !!
Corfu Benitses - 2, Agios Gordios 8 - beautiful, Corfu town 8
Paxos - 8 - lovely island
Anti-paxos - 7 - nothing there when I went (1987) but unbelievable turquoise sea where we were dropped off the boat for a swim
Kos, Tingaki 7 - nice resort, short bus ride to Kos town, Kefalos - 8
Kalymnos - 4 - landscape very rocky and barren, went the year they had heatwave in Greece
Telendos - 9 - tiny little island near Kalymnos - little white "sugarcube" houses, lovely little tavernas along the beach - probably considerably more developed since then (1988)
Leros - 6 - pleasant little island, you can walk around it easily in a day (I think it used to be a leper colony)
Crete - Platanias 6, Chania 7, Heraklion 5, Rethymnon 6, Agios Nikolaos 6 (pretty but a bit too touristy)
Zante - I stayed in Agios Sostis - 5 (a mile or so along the coat from Laganas), very small resort, beach is only about 6 feet to the water - experienced earthquake (5.4 - scary!), Laganas - 6 (good beach, however becoming the "new" Faliaraki so gets rowdy)
Leros wasn't a leper colony - that was Spinalonga off Crete. Leros had/has psychiatric hospitals and had an internment camp during the "Generals" - going back there in October for the first time in 17 years!
Been to Corfu twice as a child and once as a adult
Kasioppi Corfu loved it. 10/10 Small but beautiful.
Tsilivi Zante. loved it. 10/10 Ideal for families.
Loved both my holidays to Greece but then I am easily pleased!!
Hope to try a few more places in the future. Greece is such a beautiful country, and I suppose where you go depends on age and if you have children to consider.
commercialised.
Kos (Kos Town) Ok for teenagers but too brash for me. 2/10.
Corfu (Sidari) 7/10. Lovely beach. Good nightlife but not too OOT.
Corfu (Aghios Geordios). Very windy when there in Aug & not a lot to do. 5/10.
Zante ( Alykes) Wonderful beach. Enough restaurants & bars to occupy the evenings. One of my favourites. 10/10
Crete ( 4m outside Rethymnon). Great holiday. Nice beach. Not crowded but difficult to get in & out of water due to rocks. Lots to do. 9/10.
Tolon (Last year). Lots of places to visit not too far away. Beach quite narrow in places but good for swimming. Excellent restaurants. No lager louts but busy at weekends when greek families arrive.9/10
We visited Santorini on a one day cruise from Crete. We enjoyed it but found it to be quite expensive & 'arty farty' shops & cafes. As someone said earlier its probably good for couples looking for a romantic break.
Depends what you are looking for really.
Have a great time wherever you end up!
Paulow1 give me more info about Ios, was going to go there as it seemes idyllic but then it also seemed a bit of a clubbers haven, all young types in groups, not greek at all
