Did anyone notice the smell of milk in turkey? Its awful the milk in Ireland certainly doesn't have that smell. So i can't drink tea or eat cereal over there i just can't stomach the milk. I drink tea without milk. And usually to get my calcium i eat fruit yoghurts..

Just so you know, milk is "sut" in Turkish so look for the word on the carton as well as the picture of the cow :)

I am travelling in August and will need to get full fat milk for my baby - I am all-inclusive is the hotel likely to serve full fat? or if not what do I need to buy.

Any advice appreciated.

the most available milk is full flat and most hotels use it. it tends to be if you want anything but full fat then you need to buy it, if a all inclusive hotel they smetimes have a selection. Full fat milk is just sut

We drink skimmed milk is that widely available in the shops and supermarkets, if so what name should I look out for

If you are buying the Pinar brand, skimmed is the pink one, which would say "yagsiz" on the carton

They are widely available in shops and supermarkets, may not be at hotels though.

Hiya Angella

Seen from yor previous post your staying at the Lobelia - there is a laundry about 5 mins from there - just head down to the amphi theatre and its round accross from the cemetry. I always use it - think last year it was 5 million per kg - for this they would wash , dry and deliver it back to the hotel/aparts either same day or next day if you take there in the afternoon

Im not sure if there is any self service landries around, not something i have looked for - but whilst on hol the last thing you want to be doing is your laundry

Cheers

Hi, going to Gumbet in Aug with 3 year old, he is currently on Full Cream milk at night still. I was wondering what brand of milk would you/forum recommend, also how much would it be.

thanks in advance :D

You can now buy proper fresh, ie pasteurised milk. It is only in the full fat variety but it tastes much better than UHT in fact I think it tastes just like milk from home.
It is made by Sutas and you will only really find it in the big supermarkets - Gima, Migros. It is in a plastic square bottle with a red cap and you will find it underneath the yoghurts in the chilled section.
Now I can happily eat my Frosties!
