Hi. I would say that you should be able to find something to suit in Bulgaria; I would suggest you start by looking at the Balkan HOlidays brochure, purely because they have the biggest selection of resorts & accomodation, so that you can get a "feel" for what's out there. After that you can start looking for deals :)
As for resorts, I would suggest (in no particular order) Sozopol, Balchik, Pomorie, Nessebar, Albena and possibly St Konstantin. Not all of theose will necessarily have the type of apartments you prefer, but I would have a look anyway at this stage. You can browse the Balkan resorts page at http://www.balkanholidays.co.uk/bulgaria_summer_beach/s08/visit_bulgaria.htm
Any other help you need, just ask.

i agree with doonhamer, i would recommend Nessabur or Pomorie maybe. Turunc is a lovely place but each year we go we find that it is getting just that bit more comercialized

Thanks for the help so far. Will start looking into these areas and let you know of any success. If anybody has stayed in any apartments please let me know of names. Thanks

Personally I think Balchik is the nearest to Turunc, but I know of nowhere in Bulgaria that you get the 'wow' of a dolmus from Icmeler to Turunc.

Hi, If you are looking at a more relaxed style of holiday, you could always look at the Vita Park Villas in Albena. Have had friends stay there. They are in Balkan Holiday Brochure, with a choice of Mon, Wed or Fri flights. Cheers Tonyt.

We have also been to Turkey several times and fancied trying Bulgaria last year. We stayed in an all inclusive resort in Duni which was lovely but it was self contained with nothing around it. We did venture by taxi to sozopol which was very close and this was a lovely little village with loads of character plenty of shops and restaurants a small sandy beach which was packed in August. Prices were unbelievebly cheap. Another nice place we went to is Nessebar much bigger than Sozopol this also has the character you are after. As we didn't stay in the resort I can't say what the accomadation is like in these areas but I would suggest going no lower than 3* as standards aren't so high as some places.
We enjoyed our holiday in Bulgaria and if we went back we would probly try the Nessebur area. At the moment we are in love with the Greek islands.
