Hi
Again I'm looking to the people on this forum for information regarding planning our next trip - this website has the best information there is Im look at going to Bali next September but Im unsure which resort to choose, we like night life but dont want to be right in the middle of it, Fiona I read your report and know you stayed in Sanur (which interests me) could you please let me know how far Kutu is from Sanur.
Also I have tried to post hotel reviews from out recent trip to Vietnam but I cant work it out (not very good with technical things )
Thanks in advance
Jules
Re the hotel reviews- could you let me know which hotels you stayed at and I will ask for them to be added to the review page. Thanks Jules!
Thanks for your reply, I dont want you to get th wrong idea we arent party animals just like a fews bars to walk to so we arent in the same place all night every night, we are usually heading home by midnight anyway for a night cap - our clubbing days are over now so I guess if there quiet a few bars/restaurants we may well stay in Sanur
We stayed in Majestic Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Sunrise Beach Resort in Nha Thrang Vietnam, they where both very nice hotels and I would like to share that with other forum uses, I always check the reviews when booking a holiday
Thanks again
Jules
( your hotels should be in our reviews some time tonight- thanks for offering to write them!)

There are a few good Bali dedicated forums http://www.balitravelforum.com is my favourite. Lots of fabulous JBR's in the archives with heaps of information. Give me a shout and I'll point some out to you. A more recent one was http://www.com-memorate.com/bali.html which was a fabulous read.
The night club and party scene has moved up toward Seminyak these days. I'm a bit like yourself and home by midnight zzzz
Bali Padma in Legian is a great place to stay but it's quiet large but in a great location and near heaps of restaurants and many bars. Depends what you want ... big resorts or smaller boutique resorts.
We are going in May for 2 weeks staying at the newly refurbished Puri Raja in Legian @ $US50 per room including breaky for two. Then over to Puri Santrian Club in Sanur for 5 nights for a special anniversary $US 100 per night (just to give you a price gauge) We have stayed in Sanur before and it was always quiet even before the bombings now I hear it's even quieter.
If your hankering for something British then I hear it's a good night out at the http://catfiddle.com/ I'm going to have a go at that because I hear it's a good night.
I reckon one of the best parts of a holiday is the planning... happy reading. Cheers Geri
Fiona I will try and write reviews for the hotels in the next day or so although looks like I have plenty of reading to do thanks the gerib
gerib thank you for the information and website they look very good, trouble is now I wont be able to make my mind up where to stay , regarding bars etc, not bothered about them being ''british'' its just we like to sit and have a drink in a bar rather than a restaurant if you see what I mean but Im sure we will give the cat and fiddle a try.
I agree with you one of the best bit about holidays is the planning, thanks to the internet and information people share we can see/read about the country/resort we intend to visit.
Thanks again for your help
Jules
Anyway back to Bali, we stayed at the Bali Tropic near Sanur, fabulous hotel with the best pool i`ve experienced anywhere in the world, very reasonable as well. I would definitely go back there.
Thanks for info on Bali will def give it a look at. Regarding Majestic to be honest we never went to the swimming pool, although our friends went for a 'dip' one afternoon, they didnt really say much about it which probably says it all if you see what I mean.
Thanks again
Jules
I hope Geri hasn't chased you away from here Jules .
No Im still here its just that thanks to Geri I have plenty of reading to don for our Bali trip
I promise I will write hotel review for Nha Trang in the next day or so.
Just a quick question, I have had a quick look on web and cant see anything but do we need any ''tropical injections'' for Bali or is it much the same as Vietnam. We took malaria tablets in Vietnam do we need them for Bali?
Thanks again for info
Jules
The first time we went to Bali I took malaria pills and it made me feel terrible. I was so ill when we got back I had to have a blood test for malaria. However, it was negative... but I should have realised because just as I felt better it was time to take another once weekly pill and I was sick again Doh!!! The Brits I've met in SEA seem to take malaria medication but the Aussie's don't. A lot of Aussies haven't had any precautionary injections but I think they are silly... particularly Hep A.
We have travelled since to malarial countries and we take a good repellent that contains at least 80% DEET ... those little critters don't even think of landing on you. Also on arrival we buy an aerosol of fly/mozzie spray and give our room a good spray before we head out for dinner.
Hope this has helped. However, you must be guided by your GP or travel advisory centre. Cheers Geri.
PS They reckon Gin is good... must be all the quinine in it.
I can only apologise for not thanking you for your reply re malaria earlier its just our land line have been down so no phones/email/net etc for last few days and now that they are back on the photocopier is going non stock and my junk mail box is over flowing
Fiona, I will get round to the Sunrise hotel review once Im back up to speed at work
We had to read newspapers at lunch time instead of surfing...........almost forgotten how to
Regards Jules
I can sympathise- I have had a few days without my computer and it is a nightmare!
