This year i was wondering if to take our 2 daughters who are 8 and 9. To whitby in august for a holiday i have heard so may good reports about it but would like to know a little bit more before i decide.
And where would be a good place to stay close by to everything.??
Any advice would be great thanks.x
Whitby is a fabulous place but very busy. Do you want a hotel, B&B or self catering? There will be some lovely holiday cottages right in the town.
Well busy we are'nt bothered about as lomg as there is a beach and plenty to do. A holiday cottage sounds ideal if its near everything. Also anything really with self catering then we can come and go as we please. Any ideas of places to stay.?
a holiday cottage in Whitby may not be that much fun for the kids. There are a couple of good Haven holiday parks not too far from Whitby - we stayed at the Primrose one a few years ago - great for kids, and you can take day trips to Whitby.
we just didnt want to do another haven holiday.i think they have grown out of Rory and Bradley now.
We stayed at the whitby holiday park last Aug bank holiday . got it really cheap. used to be with hoseasons but now appears to be independant . Its a nice site and caravan was of a good standard if you just want a base but not much there apart from a little clubhouse/amusement , cafe and a shop but there is a small beach .
If you decide on a cottage do a google search for Holiday Cottages + Whitby and lots come up
I'd suggest staying in Scarborough and doing day trips to Whitby. There's not really a great amount to do, and unless you stay somewhere with entertainment provided, you might be struggling on a night.
Scarbrough sounds a good idea. Also i wonder if WHITLEY would be a better opnion. with us wanting a beach and things to do.
Do you mean Whitley BAY, I do not know of a place called Whitley?
I have been wondering if there was some confusion between Whitby and Whitley Bay as I have never heard of Whitby being referred to as Whitby Bay.
Whitley Bay is a coastal town in Tyne and Wear with a beautiful beach and a lot of caravan parks but the town itself is unimpressive although it has St Marys lighthouse which you can walk to at low tide.It was a thriving resort but is now in decline.Whitby is much nicer for a holiday.
