Hi All
I dont know about you lot, but I have just over 2 months till I am out on the costa del sol, and already planning what to pack, what toiltries I need, when I need to go on the sunbed, when to order my avon aftersun, I must be bonkers, I am just so excited to get away from depressing blighty....as everyone keeps saying to me stop wishing it here, I am wishing my life away!!
Portugal for two glorious weeks in the sun!!!
Spent a ton of money at the weekend - but got everything we need now. Pound shop was excellent for all my suncreams and shampoo etc. Just the luggage scales deluded me but there is plenty of time I suppose.
Not than I am counting or anything
I remember how excited you were last year and before I was able to have more than one holiday a year I was just the same. I'm a holiday addict and have 2 or 3 booked up so I am in a permanent state of excitement.
Hope you have a fab time. I'm going to the CDS soon too so really counting down the days.
I go away on Friday, and didn't feel that excited until Tuesday morning when someone said something at work and I suddenly thought "wow, yes I go away this week, omg how exciting". Had to go into town after work to buy suncream and so on!
I am terrible, as its the only holiday I get, saying that hoping to get away to barcelona for xmas, I am watching the costa del sol webcams, listening to spanish music eating at my favourite tapas place in manchester, my fella gets sick of me, all he heres at the moment is spain spain holidays, spain spain holidays!! I need them baggage scales sounds like a good investment, I am always over on my 20 kilos allowance!!
I think a primark shopping spree is on the horizon, I need beach towel, a maxi dress, jelly gladiators!! well according to my fella I dont need anything!!! I am going slightly mental!!!
Here's another one that lives for her holidays. I get ready for my next one just as soon as the present one's over. We came back from Benidorm in April and the count down for the Dominican Republic's been on since then. Sis and me have done all our clothes shopping and this year we don't intend buying extras every week because we've only got 15 kgs. We're buying our toiletries at the airport so I don't have to sort out a toiletry bag way in advance as I usually do. I've already decided what clothes I'm taking but I do need to get hubby some long linen trousers. I have been looking but I'm not having much luck. I also need to swill out my beach shoes once I find them - I think they're in the shed somewhere I will apply for the tourist card soon although we don't go for another 10 weeks. There's nothing like being organised
Off to Ibiza for the first time with my family. A large group of us going so it should be brilliant.
Have finished my clothes shopping, got my suncreams and just need to get the last few toiletries sorted now.
Very excited to say the least, I think we all deserve a holiday.
I go in 6 days cant wait. However, just found out after printing my boarding card out Ive made a mistake with hubbies passport details. and cant get intouch with ryanair to be able to change it so its put a damper on my excitement.
Michelle
Guys for the ones that go before me, have a good un, and dont get to brown, I am sat here listening to flamenco radio andaluzia (sad sad) I want that beach right here right now, I believe most of the med is hot hot at the moment..
You can probably get boarding card at the airport dont worry they will have all your details on the system. I worked as ground staff and had that all the time at manchester airport!! no panico!!!
Hi your exactly the same as me ,as soon as it starts to get nearer my hols I never shut up about them my other half say I do his head in I watch all the holiday programmes sad I know and i'm always on here browsing just basically thinking about holidays non stop.
I'm not going on holiday this year but i'm looking to book as soon as the brochures come out for europe next year.
7 weeks and 4 days to go not that I'm counting or anything, of to Gran Canaria, making lots of list of all yhe things I need, everyone is sorted for clothes except for me, gives me a reason to go shopping though .
I'm back from there for 3 weeks and then off to the Algarve for 2 weeks with Hubby and son but I can't even THINK about that one (which is our main holiday) until the 4 nights are completed
I can't say I'm particularly excited a the moment but I think that's more to do with the general depression cloud over Hubbys work at the moment . Still not much about and just getting through week by week , Badly . Just had to cancel a weekend we had booked to Slovenia for next week because he is so worried about taking another 2 days out and then not having anything to come back to . It's killed me to do it and lost the flight money but hey ho theres always another time .
And then what do I do , Sit here looking at holidays for next year
i have to wait until October for my hol's this year , as its my silver wedding anniversary and we are going to tunisia for the first time , i come in here everyday to see any new postings , a bit nearer the time i will be asking for simple translations like please , thank you , yes , no , hello good morning , good evening . As i like to try the new languauge of the country i am visiting ........ roll on October .
So sorry to learn of your hubby's job predicament Lyn, especially as you've had to cancel one holiday. I'd be the same as you, looking for more holiday ideas on here, just in case things pick up
i will be asking for simple translations like please , thank you , yes , no , hello good morning , good evening . As i like to try the new languauge of the country i am visiting
Lindy, I've downloaded the Byki language programme in Greek, in the past and am already adding to my Spanish vocab through the spanish programme. I don't know if you've tried it, it's really easy and it can be as basic or intense as you like. I love trying out the native language and get more confident each year.
7 weeks and 3 days not that i'm counting !!!.
It's only about 5 weeks til we go to Dominican, I've got one more exam next week at university and then that's it, shopping can start. CAN'T WAIT!!
The excitement, planning and thousands of lists I make are all part of the holiday to me, wouldn't be the same without it.
Oh, and men's linen trousers, Littlewoods site had some nice ones a couple of weeks ago, and there are loads of promotional vouchers around for there aswell as quidco cashback I know because finding some trousers my boyfriend will actually wear has been a nightmare, and that's where we found some.
Had such a great time, met some fantastic people (local Brits) and I'm desperate to go back to the same place in August but teenage daughter doesn't want another holiday, because her best mate can't afford to come again, even though my son said he'd come this time to keep her company.
I've even offered to pay for her best mate (it'd be a cheap flight, private apartment - so same price however many people in it; and I've seen how much her mate eats and it wouldn't exactly bankrupt me...) but the girls are refusing to budge and apparently they have "plans" for the summer... They've just left school (last Friday) and they don't start college until mid-September so I'm not sure what they're going to do for the best part of 4 months...
I know they're going to the Leeds Festival but that's right at the end of August and it's only for a couple of days, so it's not like I can sneak off on my own for any worthwhile amount of time - and I wouldn't trust her home alone if decided to go away without her.
At the moment I've given up asking her myself and I've got my son on the case, texting her and bothering her on MSN and Facebook, trying to convince her to agree to it. He wants a holiday as well, he didn't want to come with us at Easter because he said he was "too old for family holidays" and he wanted to go away with friends, but now he's discovered all his Uni friends are skint and are going away with their own families, and his old schoolfriends with jobs are going away with girlfriends. So unless we can convince daughter, we're going to have a bit of a sulky summer all round!
