We're planning an Altinkum on the 24th of June, for 14 nights

Is anyone going to Altinkum, Didim?

Just been to Lara Beach but nothing at all there but on a day trip we went to Side which looked lovely.. Still fancy Belek though - which is better Belek or Side in October - anyone know ??

Belek is the same as Lara beach - lovely hotels but nothing else. Side on the other hand has it all - Roman ruins, 3 beaches, beautiful harbour. Loads of shops, bars and restaurants

Thanks for that Denny. Yes Side is lovely and we may try there. Going to Ovacik in June so will be having a good look around Fethiye and Olu Deniz etc. Lara Beach had nothing to look at - very impressive hotels but nothing else except shopping malls. When you've seen one you've seen em all.....

Suemog, take the dolmus from Fethiye to Kalkan and have a mooch round there. Another 30 minutes dolmus ride further down the coast from Kalkan is Kas which is also worth a look.

Just another question you may know the answer to - when we left Side by coach on our trip they
took us to a textile factory/shop that had lots of designer (fake) jeans, t shirts etc. Hubby impressed with
some Lacoste shirts they had for 7 euros too.... is there anything like this near Ovacik to look out for ??

Sue, I can't recall an outlet like that in Ovacik but Fethiye has a huge market which I believe is on a Tuesday and so you can try out your haggling skills there. Further to my earlier post, you can take a water taxi from Fethiye harbour to Calis Beach.

I'm staying at the Grand Aquarium Hotel - arrive on 25th July and staying for 10 days so hopefully it will be nice and hot.

I'm going with my wife and my 15 year old daughter. She likes water parks (as do I) so was wondering if there were any nearby for a day out.
Also, I know that our hotel is about a mile from the beach so we'll be using dolmus regularly - what kind of price is the dolmus?

It's my daughter's first time abroad so i think she'll love it no matter what but I'll definitely be taking her on a boat trip - hopefully an all inclusive one but we won't be using the reps as I'm told it's cheaper to seek one out yourself.

Also (sorry for all the questions) is there a market in Icmeler (if so, what day) or will we have to venture towards Marmaris?

I'll be taking around £1,000 spending money for 3 of us (so basically £100 per day) - will this be enough do you think?

if your hotel is all inclusive then i think 1,000 is well enough. the dolmus is only around £1. there is a market in icmeler on wednesday and in my opinion is better than the marmaris market.hope this helps.

It's actually self catering, so no freebies included unfortunately.

Like I said it's only for 10 days and we don't plan on going crazy, just self cooked breakfast, a light lunch, a dinner (probably not at the hotel) and a couple of trips: water park & boat ride.

I do like a few beers throughout the day (as does my wife), my daughter may have an alcoholic beverage or 2 but mainly soft drinks.

There is a couple of waterparks in Marmaris one facing the beach we used it . If its the same as 4 years ago if you had a meal
in the restraunt / bar next door (think they own water park ) you got a pass for the waterpark for the next day . Sorry i cannot remember
the name of it. But you google things to do in Marmaris the water park will come up. Hope this helps.

Going to Ovacik in 3 weeks time (1 week only), then again in Jul 2012 for 2weeks :o)

Thanks boroboy, a quick google search threw up 'Atlantis Waterpark' <- would that be the one?

I thought £1000 would be plenty, especially as it's only 10 days. Would work out at around 270 Lira per day. I know there are 3 of us but last year in Turkey my wife and I averaged around 150 Lira per day (not including the trips which I won't be doing as many of this year).

Well I guess I'll see what happens, I always take my debit card so may have to use that if funds run low.

Still can't wait, it's gonna be lovely and hot
