winterpansy - I can spend 5 grand on a holiday and have done so many times - I can also spend as little as a thousand pounds on a month in Thailand including accommodation.
The choice is ours - upmarket or cheap.
Did you do anything exciting wth the 5k?

With so many of your posts "disappearing" you must be doing something wrong such as pressing Preview instead of Submit. You can view your own posts by clicking the link at the top right of the screen.
The logs have been checked for the times you thought the posts had disappeared and none of your posts had been deleted.

5k was for 3 of us approx
2k flights including bbk to phuket return
1k accomodation
2k drinks ,food ,and 2 trips taxis 17 days
didnt eat fancy either mostly sandwhiches from 7 eleven
and bangkok was teaming with rats more than I have seen in Goa though I have seen a couple!
Like it as much as you want but Goa beats it hands down on atmosphere anyday

One thousand pounds for how many people? If for one thats still loads more than you need in Goa!
I never press preview Luci only submit....2 of my posts on another forum have been moved to some post that started in 2006 if you can believe that!

Having looked at many sites relating To Koh Samui and surrounding islands I'll reserve judgement. Since I spend a lot of time walking and taking photographs, KS looks like a winner to me. Phuket/Patong doesn't interest me.
Goa is losing atmosphere rapidly IMO.

Spaldy I will direct Van our webmaster to this post to confirm our findings that the admin and moderator log shows no deletion of posts for your account. The log records every move we make. I don't know what has happened to your posts but we have not delted them.

Hi, my partner and i were in the same position we went to somy last year and paid £590 after watching the hols for months i decided to ring round and the coop quoted us a good deal anyway phoned thomas cook and weve got the somy for 684, ring up and quote them that figure and i am sure they will match it, thats for 28th dec,

Just read a report on holiday value for money, on the Goanvoice site, taken from the News of the World, and guess what, Goa is where they found your pound went the furthest.
But I don't agree with it being a good destination in Summer !

hi lived .worked and toured around thailand,came back from our first goa trip recently and it is definatley thumbs up for goa,when we lived in thailand it was 74 baht to £ when we went last time it was 49 quite a difference,rooms ,taxis food etc cost half as much on top of what we used to pay
