My partner and I have stayed there too. I would not say that
Valletta G-House alone was what made us want to return to Malta, but it was one of the factors for us.
We loved the city of Valletta, the three cities on the other side of the harbour and the lovely people. We made the effort to learn a few words in Maltese and one can't imagine what a difference that made.
Here's a couple:
Iva (yes) "I" sound like "e" in eve and "a" like that in arm
Grazzi (thank you) the "g" sound like that in gang, and "z" like that in tzar
Jekk jogbok (please) "j" sounds like "y" in year, the "o" like that in orbit, and "g" like "j" in Jerry.
The house itself was very individual and it felt like we were in a small castle. I have stayed in some other lovely houses and villas in Malta and Gozo but VGH even had furniture that was designed specifically for it! It has something magical about it. You could see that a lot of thought had been put in it.
I would have loved to be in Valletta at the moment. The
Malta Arts Festival seems colourful.[/url] We're there in December and we are looking forward to the Christmas spirit (both that which comes in a bottle in particular some of the delicious local wines we have tasted and the Maltese season spirit)
